Chose this place as it looked lovely and had great views. The evening started off well, we ordered, steak, veal and hake. The veal was lovely and very tender. The hake unfortunately was cold so it was returned with the vegetables but when it returned it really wasn't much warmer. The steak was ordered well done but upon cutting into it there was still blood in the middle. It was returned and while waiting I ate all the chips. The steak came back out but it was still red in the centre and there was no offer of more sides with it. We sent it back but said we didn't want it cooked a third time and neither did we want to order anything else, the others were almost finished their meals. We were offered desserts but refused. Someone else came out to speak to us, not sure if it was owner or manager etc but we felt ourselves and the waiter were being blamed and it wasn't really an apology. They brought the bill and deducted price of the steak but then we didn't eat the steak. Then they brought out complimentary lemon cello shots. We noticed they had already added a service charge to the bill but given a choice we wouldn't have given a tip. What should have been a lovely evening ended in...
Read moreThe food, staff and facilities were amazing. Four adults all had the menu of the day which was starter, main, cake, water and wine for 10.95 euros each. We met who we thought was the head waiter/manager at the front who was funny and helpful he was great with the children. The food was excellent with gazpacho soup (deliciouso?), fillet of local white fish, and local cake Nice rosė wine and refreshing water. The sign of a great place is what happens when things go slightly awry, slight plate mix up was handled very well and staff couldn't apologise more. The young waiter was very polite and of great service. Toilets were spotless and very well designed for all those who like to know such a thing. A must visit when in...
Read moreWe arrived for dinner just as they were opening (2 year old son means early dinnertime) and they couldn't have been more welcoming. Brought colours and paper for our little boy before fetching menus. Danny, our waiter, was kind and friendly and recommended the freshly caught whole seabass special which was perfectly cooked with crispy skin and perfectly seasoned. My wife ordered a veggie pizza which they were happy to leave mushrooms off at our request. Our boy had omelette and chips which probably would have fed him three times over.
There's a lot of wrong choices to make on the Can Picafort promenade but El Puerto definitely isn't one of them. We would have gone back again had we not only found it on...
