La Pinta Bar-Restaurant — Restaurant in Santa Margalida

Went here on the first evening of our holiday yesterday as we had read loads of recommendations. We had a very early flight so were tired and wanted to have dinner before an early night. We were left really disappointed :(

The restaurant admittedly did look very busy when we arrived but there were free tables and it wasn’t mentioned to us that there was an issue when we sat down. We ordered white wine sangria which was not what we expected. It resembled watered down orange juice and it didn’t seem very alcoholic at all? Despite that it was fine and we were looking forward to our food.

We didn’t time the evening however about an hour in to our visit we still didn’t have our food and were beginning to get a bit impatient as it was nearing 9pm. We only ordered 4 tapas dishes so didn’t expect it to take a long time, however heard one of the waiters turn people away saying it would be a long wait (once again we were not told this). One of the waiters then came over to us to tell us that one of the tapas we ordered was not available (an hour after ordering!) and by this point we were losing patience so asked them how long our food was likely to be as we had waited so long and were not told anything about a wait. The waiter looked a bit annoyed at us but went to ask the kitchen to only come back and say ‘it’s going to be a while more’ so we decided to just stick with the drinks and go elsewhere. By this point the restaurant was quietening down so I have no idea what the issue was and felt like we were kind of just dismissed. The table next to us also seemed to be getting impatient as they came in and ordered at a similar time.

A shame as we heard great things but now won’t...

Difficult to understand how some places get scores like 4.5... You go there, and what do you find: burgers, humus&falafel, quesadillas, in the same menu. This is always a warning: somebody is just trying to sell what he thinks is wanted. But, we said, wait, maybe they know their stuff. Then you wait like 50 min for your humble order. After this difficult to explain delivery time, you receive an overcooked fish, an unlovingly cooked and composed burger, (meat quality was not the reason, it was good), a quesadilla which is a testimony of haven't a clou what quesadillas are about and so on. We visited this restaurant after reading great reviews about the food. We hadn't reserved a table and just turned up and they were able to accommodate us.

Off to a good start the drinks and garlic & chilli prawns came out and the prawns were absolutely amazing. Then we waited an hour and a half for our main course, which never actually came. I asked to just pay for what we had and to be fair, the waiter said it was on the house because they were so busy.

We visited again 2 nights later and the service was way better, ordered the garlic and chilli prawns again and also ordered the fillet steak and mussels. The food was tremendous! I think they may need 1 or 2...
