Update on our latest visit for lunch a few weeks later: Once again we received a very friendly welcomed from the lovely staff. Today we decided on spicy pizza and a meat lasagna made either delicious fennel sausage. Absolutely delicious! We will be back!! 🙏

A friendly and polite welcome with complimentary nibbles is a great start. The service was so exceptionally friendly (including that they spoke English) has to be mentioned. The food is excellent! Imagine home made everything, …. (Antipasti from heaven) from the lemon marmalade; ratatouille and tomato herb salad to accompany the Italian prosciutto starter, served with the most delicious homemade bread. Flavours that are usually only found in Italy. Pizzas with a thin crunchy base, whilst not crispy (imagine that) as a base to marvellous toppings on the pizza that you will not find elsewhere in Santander. Try it! We will certainly be back!...

Si sois seis, preparaos para vivir La Dolce Prisión

Fuimos seis personas y, por lo visto, en este restaurante italiano eso se traduce automáticamente en una condena al menú cerrado. ¿Querías elegir tu plato? Qué idea más revolucionaria. ¿Querías libertad gastronómica? Lo siento, has entrado en la zona de exclusión del libre albedrío.

Aquí no se elige nada. Ni la pasta, ni la salsa, ni la esperanza. Solo permiten una salsa para todos, como si fuéramos una secta de carbohidratos unidos por el pesto. Claro, si en tu grupo hay vegetarianos o personas que no pueden tomar pesto, como en el nuestro, pues nada… te toca observar con cara de hambre. La solución que nos ofrecieron fue brillante: hacer otra pasta fuera del menú... después del postre. Claro, porque una pasta de las 23:00 siempre entra bien, ¿verdad?

¿Y los postres? Madre mía, los postres. Nunca pensé que echaría de menos un flan del Carrefour hasta probar su tarta de queso, que tenía la textura del hormigón armado y el sabor de un recuerdo lejano de Italia. El tiramisú, eso sí, se parecía a un tiramisú... como yo me parezco a Ryan Gosling. Y la panna cotta de cerveza sabía literalmente a barril de Mahou olvidado al sol. No sabía si comerla o echarle cacahuetes y ver si salía espuma.

El servicio, ausente emocionalmente. Les explicamos las intolerancias, los problemas con el menú, las peticiones... y nos dieron la misma solución que el postre: dura, fría y poco útil.

Consejo de amigo: Si vais, id en múltiplos de tres. Menos de tres: libertad. Más de cinco: dictadura gastronómica. Y por Dios, llevad hambre... pero también...

We had a wonderful dinner tonight. Ordered a bottle of Prosecco and bruschetta. They brought us each a single bruschetta, which I thought odd at first. But it was so very good and was all that was needed. I ordered the ravioli and my spouse had the lasagne. Each sampled another’s plates. Food was exceptional. Some Italian restaurants will serve breads and butters, but this place does not. Would recommend they do so. Other than that, excellent dining experiences. We will definitely return on our next visit...
