We arrived in Santander late, no shops open, dying of thirst, nothing in our apartment. Then we happened upon the kindest owner who provided us with his beer in a glass and water and trusted us to return same next day. So next day we had a delightful lunch there. We sat in the cool square under the portico where we were swiftly served with a fixed and delicious lunch. 3 courses, wine €15 each. What a great welcome to this fabulous city. La gente que está allí trabaja con mala cara y sin ganas. Es una pena que habiendo tanta gente que vale para trabajar, tenga en plantilla a un camarero poco útil. Dicho camarero se limitó a ignorarnos, aún estando en la mesa junto a la puerta. Decidí ir yo a la barra a pedir, pues se le veía que al pobre no le daba para mucho más. Estuvimos allí y él no hacia más que pasar por la mesa de mala gana recogiendo, bueno, tirando los botellines que había, sin siquiera disculparse, y mira que no es tan difícil, ninguna de las dos cosas. A la tercera vez que pasó tirando todo, le pedí la cuenta; a lo que primero contestó que vale, para luego venir con cara de dignidad a la mesa a decirme que si pretendía que él me cobrase, me pondría un plus. Perdón?; Aunque me hubieras atendido tú, tu servicio no vale ningún plus para cómo trabajas. Decidí no seguirle la mala energía que desprendía y me acerque a pagar, pero para mí sorpresa cuando me retiraba del sitio, me cortó el paso, preguntándome si había pagado o llamaría a la policía. ¿De verdad?, cómo podéis tener a un tipo con esa cara y esa actitud atendiendo al público. Chico, si no te gusta tu trabajo, te hubieras dedicado a hacer algo mejor con tu vida, pero no desquites tus frustraciones con los clientes que ayudan a pagar tu nómina. Very average bar in a nice plaza. Staff were generally cold and uninterested. Quite slow service but we were in Spain so I accept this to a point. My food was forgettable - my fried prawns were tainted by the burnt garlic. My wife's fried eggs, ham and chips were okay. White wine was quite pleasant.
