Panadería Gallofa&Co — Restaurant in Santander

For international travellers, I'll do this review in English instead of Castellano:

This is a fashionable café that offers everything from breakfast in the morning to coffee during the day and alcohol until closing time in the evening. Freshly baked bread for small lunch plates, either sweet or not, fresh fruits and juices, lots of cakes and local specialties... A great variety of options!

I'd post more photos of the nice design and industrial furniture (cosy booth benches!), but I don't have more: when one of the bartenders saw me taking photos, I was asked not to do so. I was told it's the boss's policy, which I don't endorse for a public place such as a café. Sounds unfriendly to me, but it seemed to me the staff...

Siempre me ha gustado la Gallofa, soy de Madrid y cada vez que vengo, me paso. Esta vez ha sido en este local de Santander. Me han atendido un chico muy simpático y educado y otra chica llamada Pamela. La chica no ha sido agradable, me ha preguntado gritando mientras todavía estaba siendo atendida por el chico que qué bebida quería (he alucinado) y después el chico me ha cobrado. Cuando he terminado y viendo la cola que había, me he apartado un poco al lado de la barra/bebidas para pedir si me podían calentar el pincho de tortilla que había pedido. La chica me ha preguntado con tono alto: ¡No, se lo tenías que haber pedido a él cuando has pedido, yo sólo sirvo bebidas! Y claro, me he quedado al principio bloqueada pero educadamente le he dicho: ah vale, pensaba que usted también me podía atender, no sabía que se lo tenía que haber pedido a él. Total, me ha respondido sin mirarme siquiera: ¡tú me preguntas, yo te respondo! Y nada, después se lo he pedido al chico y me ha hecho el favor mientras el pobre ya estaba atendiendo a los siguientes y ella mirando… Al final, me he dado cuenta de que hablaba así a todo el mundo…

No entiendo este tipo de trato al cliente cuando se trabaja de cara al público, no pido que sea la alegría de la huerta, pero un mínimo de educación.

La tortilla estaba muy rica, el café con leche regular, me ha puesto poca leche y después de su contestación, cualquiera le pedía que llenase la taza...

Excellent toasted bread, you can pick your favorite type of it as well. We tried the avocado one and also the melted cheese with egg and both were good. They have a variety of option to put on top of your toast, in addition to a selection of Spanish omelette “tortilla”. Pizza, breads and pastries are cooked in-house.
