If you want to spend hundreds of euros to sit on a buggy bed in the shade all day while being ignored and sneered at by rude staff — then Ego’s Beach Club is the place for you. For everyone else: avoid.
We booked a Bali bed for our last day of holiday — what should have been a relaxing send-off turned into a complete nightmare thanks to the treatment we received. The “welcome drink” took almost an hour to arrive, and after that we were basically invisible. At one point, we literally had to phone the venue from our own bed just to get a drink… in a half-empty club. When we complained, one staff member in particular (brown hair in a bun) decided to target us with constant sarcasm, looking us up and down, and making it obvious she had no intention of treating us with even basic respect.
The bed itself was another disaster. Despite requesting on our booking form to be close to the pool, we were shoved to the very back, far away, in a bed that sat in the shade for nearly the entire day. Not only that, but the bed was crawling with bugs.
And just when we thought it couldn’t get worse — it did. At one point, staff told us there was only one bottle of water left (in a beach club, seriously?). Later, when we asked them to book us a taxi, it was treated like we were asking for the world. We were then asked to wait outside, so we stood outside for half an hour for a taxi that never showed so walked for half an hour instead. Meanwhile, another couple asked for a taxi after us, were welcomed to wait inside comfortably, and theirs arrived within minutes. The double standards and obvious targeting were humiliating.
The food itself was lovely, but that was the only redeeming part. Everything else was appalling. It was crystal clear they judged us as two younger women and assumed we wouldn’t spend much — huge mistake. I run two businesses myself, and if there’s one thing I know, it’s that underestimating your customers is the fastest way to destroy your reputation. Sometimes the “young girls” you sneer at actually have more money to spend than the older men you’re busy fussing over 🤣. Instead of gaining a huge drinks bill, you completely ruined the last day of our holiday and exposed your staff — especially the brown-haired woman with the bun — as arrogant, lazy, and unfit for a venue that dares to call itself “luxury.”
Save your money and go to Lobster Club, where service actually matches the setting. Ego’s isn’t a luxury beach club — it’s a photo backdrop with customer service straight out of a...
Read moreThis was the most disappointing beach clubs I have visited.
Aesthetically it is gorgeous, however the Bali beds are a scam, you will be better off getting normal sun beds as we spent the whole time squatting bugs which climbed all over us the whole time we were there. When we asked to move beds we were told no as “customers pay for the bed numbers” which was not true as we didn’t select a bed number when booking and there were beds next to us which were un-occupied the entire time we were there.
The service was incredibly slow, we rang the bell several times and nobody came, meaning we had to go up to the bar to order - this was also the case for several beds around ours. There was a waiter in particular who was very rude to us and a group of girls who were enjoying themselves at the time we was there.
When we arrived our bed was infested by bugs, when we asked for it to be cleaned they had ran out of bug spray, so we had to dust them off ourselves which was pointless as they came back. When the spray arrived eventually, we were told to go wait on the couches for the bed to be cleaned. We were then approached by the rude member of staff who told us we had to move as we couldn’t sit on the couches unless you was dressed?
We were also given a menu on the beds but couldn’t eat at the beds, only the restaurant which was...
Read moreThis is a hard one to write.. the food was 10/10 the best steak I’ve eaten in a long time. We opted for the T bone between 2 of us and some bread to start this was perfect amount of food.
Now the service was what let them down, it was just so disappointing for a place like this which felt kind of boujie and classy the service didn’t meet the standards we would expect. Especially when places are providing better service than this and you are paying half the price for food and drinks.
Wine brought to the table.. no one topped up our glasses we had to do it ourselves which in a restaurant like this they shouldn’t watch you do that yourself it should be done for you.
Plates from starters left on the table whilst the main is being brought out, even though staff are walking around and not rushed off their feet.. one waiter had to ask our waiter to remove our plates as he was bringing the steak out. We had to keep trying to get someone’s attention to get the bill and the whole experience on a whole was just disappointing but the food was good so I’d recommend it for that but don’t expect good service.
They also had a DJ which was great but something’s missing I think general atmosphere of the place needs some work doing on it and training of restaurant staff to a...
