Restaurante Mestral — Restaurant in Santanyí

I had rang the restaurant earlier in the day to reserve a table. When we arrived, we were given a table right at the very back away from everyone where it was ridiculously hot. I asked the waitress why we were given such an awful table as we had booked. She said that the front tables had to be kept free as they were constantly changing. As we had been waiting we noticed that the table right at the front near the entrance had a reserved sign with people sitting on it. Either she was clearly lying or they had given our reserved table away to someone else. As it was so hot, we asked if they had a fan, which they didn't. She said we could sit down and wait for another table to become free. After a few minutes another waiter (older man with no hair) approached us and offered us the menus. I explained (in Spanish) that we were waiting for another table and that we weren't sure how long we would wait (the heat was already unbearable). I then couldn't believe what he said "if you're not happy, then leave". I was so outraged that we left at that point. We had reserved a table and he was so rude. We had a bad experience at this restaurant a few years ago, but we thought that we would give them another chance, but...

Seated immediately, drinks order taken pretty fast. Food arrived TWO HOURS later!!! Watched several other tables seated and served food before us and here’s the icing on the cake: the member of staff we complained to about the wait sat at a table near us and had sangria and cocktails with her friends while we waited with our two young children until nearly 10 pm for our food. Unbelievable.

Demanded 50% off our bill, which we got. Also, we did our bit by sending 3 different parties on their way as they studied the menu on the pavement outside. Ha ha! Food was ok but my pizza had that feeling of a pre cooked margarita with some Serrano ham and olives chucked on top at the last minute. Very unsatisfactory.

Papparazi up the road is wayyyy better. Go there and save yourself...

We were really pleased with this restaurant on our first visit..great food..beautiful paella.. excellent staff ..our visit was before 6.30pm..we went back next night and we learned we would wait an hour for food as was really busy so we left but no problem..our 3rd night. .it wasn't as busy on arrival so we were hopeful...food took an hour and half to come out and then either the wrong order or in our case charcoal burnt..basically before 6.30pm nice food and bit of a wait..after 7.30pm..kitchen goes into chaos..long waits... wrong orders, not good food and people walking out as too long to wait with children..real shame..we will not be going back there..even though the waiters try their hardest to accommodate. .the kitchen needs to get their...
