I give Tony's a reluctant four stars. We ate there on opening day, so there are lots of time to improve before the tourist season begin. But first; the interior design is spot on 70-ties San Fransisco with a flair of what I think could be Hawaiian. A black Bakelite phone with spinning number-pad in the head waiters booth and an old black and white television on top of the bar is the icing on the cake. Well done! The service is why I am reluctant. Waiters have some work to do. Please learn the menu! Having to repeat my drink order three times, and finally having to point at the drink in the drink menu is not OK. Same goes for the food, not knowing the English name of the dishes in the menu is not OK. I will end on a good note; My son ate the best salmon he ever had in his life at Tony's, and I agree, it was truly amazing! I had a Mallorcan version of Surf n' Turf, steak served with crayfish. I would have preferred the steak in larger pieces, and I'd rather have mine served with lobster, but besides that, it was a good Surf n' Turf. My wife had an assortment of tapas that...
Read moreI never leave reviews but I have to say that this place was a total disappointment. Yes the decoration and the staff are nice but the catastrophic food brings it down to a single star.
We took the all-you-can-eat tapas formula and tried 6 different ones. None of them were good and nothing felt freshly prepared. The nachos were a couple of single cheddar cheese slices melted on top of nachos crisps. The terriaki steak felt like plastic. The rest was out-of-the-box fried food that tasted like oil.
We were looking for a nice place to taste different Spanish tapas in our first night in Mallorca and fell into a fried food tourist trap. I don’t understand the hype of this place. If you are used to eating relatively healthy, go somewhere else!
Ps : The area around the bar in itself isn’t nice and is completely designed for tourists. Didn’t feel like we were in Spain and more in a weird UK-Germany party. My advice : go in Palma for reasonably priced restaurants with amazing traditional...
Read moreWe had a shared mixed tapas which was quite decent for the price. Friendly staff and nice atmosphere. Mojito wasn't drinkable tho.. So, here is the recipe: 10 mint leaves, 25ml sugar syrup (1:1- water- white cane sugar) 25ml lime juice (3/4 of a whole lime), 50ml white rum Soda water and crushed ice.
Slap the mint and add to the bottom of the glass. Fill with crushed ice. Add the sugar syrup, lime juice and rum. Take a bar spoon with a flat bottom and use the disc to churn the mixture. Add more ice and churn again. You're looking for a frosting on the outside of the glass so that you know the mix is super cold. Cap with more ice so that the glass is full and the ice glistens on top. Add soda water. Take your mint sprig and clap it between your hands to release the oils, then place next to a straw...
