After a very warm welcome by one of the servers, I was appalled by the level of service afterwards.
Staff gave diverging information regarding allergies (clear and direct information about allergens in the menu could thus not be obtained) and about being able to accommodate them (why ask for allergies in the reservation form, if the information is not used accordingly?). Instead, staff downsold from big tasting menu to small tasting menu. Staff was also unable to inform about what menu options might be allergy friendly (lit. "I'm not even sure how many menu options exist without that allergen."), so ordering à la carte did not seem a safe option.
When asked about which wine might pair well with a main dish, staff recommended "a red" and then asked if it should be "light or full-bodied" and what price range the wine should be in ("40, 50 or 60€?"). Would've expected staff to know the wine that the main dish is paired with and to be able to either offer that same wine or one of a similar kind. Asked about the aperitivo options, staff informed that they wouldn't recommend cocktails due to the weather, but "maybe something small" without offering any information on what that something small might be. Based on this, had to opt out of an aperitivo.
Staff was incapable of serving the wine into the empty glass for tasting without creating spill/spattering droplets on the table. Droplets were not noticed by the staff and not cleaned up. Refilling of wine glasses was not consistent.
Food was okay, but not great. Really enjoyable amuse-gueule. The ravioli served as a starter stuck to each other and the cheese overpowered the vegetables. The addition of fruit with the pork cheeks is a nice idea, but due to the ratio of meat to sauce, it was mostly lost and thyme did not come out noticeably. The cold/hot-variation of the cheesecake with ice cream was a nice touch.
The atmosphere is nice: the view is undeniably magnificent and the place is designed nicely. The place accommodates big groups well.
Getting there was a hassle as the whole road is under construction. Walking there is not recommended as long as the roadwork...
Read moreRuined our last night in tenerife! Have been here around 5 times over the last 2 years on holidays as the food is lovely and the service is brilliant. Usually we have the tasting menu which is 50 euro per person and worth it, so we thought. We wanted to spend the last night of our holiday here as we love it so much so we booked a table for 9.30. We arrived a bit late at 9.35 and the waitress asked us if we wanted one of the nice tables at the front of the restaurant, we of course said yes!we arrived at our table at 9. 55 and before we even opened the menu I told her we wanted the tasting menu. She said she had to check with the chef and then he said it was too late. My partner said but we were here at the required time so she checked again with the manager. She brought us wine and we said not to open the wine before we know if we can have the tasting menu or not becuase if we can't we will go somewhere else. The waitress seemed stressed and asked the chef for the 3rd time if we would do the menu for us and again he said no. I am fluent in Spanish and the kitchen is open so one could see how hard the staff were trying for us and how rude the chef was being, he was making gestures towards other tables who were finishinf their meals and was refusing to do the tasting menu. They offered us the mini tasting menu instead but we were starving as we had less at lunch in preparation for the proper menu! Becuase of this and bea use of the chef being stubborn and so rude we left and instead went to night and day, a gorgeous Italian restaurant nearby. The chef knew we would leave of we couldn't have that menu and he let us. wont be recommending this restaurant to anyone. Having said that the waiter and waitress were absolutely brilliant and I felt so bad for them they really tried for us and if we ever go back...
Read moreMy wife and I previously visited this wonderful restaurant after a recommendation from a previous colleague of Lucas who has a restaurant in La Laguna. We had the most marvellous tasting experience whilst celebrating my birthday. Everything was just spot on, the food, wine and attention to detail. On the strength of this and as we are now resident here, we decided to take a new found friend and neighbour of ours to enjoy the experience in June. Unfortunately I made the mistake of booking through the Hotel reception and having explained that my friend was on a salt free diet, we all looked forward to our evening. I say unfortunately because the reception failed to communicate this important dietary fact to the kitchen. After the initial frustration and annoyance of finding this out, Joanna (who I think is "front of house ") came to the rescue and informed the kitchen who subsequently created a special tasting menu for him. Needless to say that we had a fantastic evening enjoying the marvellous food and wine pairing. We are now booked in, in a couple of weeks, but this time I went up to the restaurant to book, met by Joanna who immediately recognised me and made the all important note to kitchen, NO SALT. We are taking a couple of newbies with us to enjoy the experience. Looking forward to a wonderful time...
