First of all I am not the complaining type of person, but this experience made me write my first negative comment. The location is nice, the appearence is nice, the waitress is kind and funny but there are language barriers. Me and my girlfriend ordered a paela for two persons, let me mention that this was our second paela in our life and we weren't cleare about the different type of paelas. We were under the impression that when you ask for a mixed paela you can choose what will be in the meal. So I asked to bring a mixed one with meat and fish only as I don't like prawn and other sea stuffs. Then after 20 min the paeale has arrived, obviously contained all the things what I can't stand and no other meat. I mentioned this to the waitress who then explained me how the paelas are categorised, it becomes also clear to me that she had difficulties with the English language. Having a reasonable person I offered a compromise, saying we both made a mistake, don't worry, I am only gonna eat the fish and rice. At this point she offered that she will bring an another meat only for me. First I refused, she offered it again, I accepted it. I was waiting for an another 20 min for my one, while I was waiting I have seen the owner of the place walking up and down, clearly looking at our table, then arguing with the waitress in Spanish, front of all the costumers. It was weird, but you now I was getting really hungry. Then when my meat only paela has arrived...oh god. I usually like salty food but this was almost made my blood vessels explode. It was horrible but because I didn't want to be the guy who is complaining AGAIN, and because I felt for the waitress as well, I was carrying on eating. Then the waitress disappeared, when I asked for the bill, the owner came and enlightened me that the extra portion is not in the deal despite the waitress were put me under the impression that it will be complimentary..he was extremely rude and when he took the remaining food away he spilled some liquid on my girlfriend without any apologise. At the end he charged us for €47 instead of €30. I just threw the money on him and left. I am still pi**ed off, this guy has ruined our night. Such a rude and disgusting person like him, should never be in the hospitality industry.
Avoid it...
Read moreThis is a very nice family run restaurant. There is a good selection of food at reasonable prices. I had the beef stroganoff, which was very tasty, but maybe could have been a touch creamier. My wife had the salmon fillet, which looked and tasted lovely, and had been perfectly cooked. There is a nice ambience in the room, particularly when the restaurant was filled with many customers. The restaurant is situated on the first floor, accessed by quite a steep staircase. I'm not aware if there was a lift for those not so agile (but there may be) Our only downside was when we received the bill, like I always do, I presented a card for payment - only to be told that it was cash only. I had to return to our hotel to collect sufficient cash to settle the bill. A bit annoying and mildly embarrassing, and it's fair to say, put a dampener on the evening. Our server pointed to a sign (that neither my wife or myself had noticed) that said "Cash Only". This was on the front door, which was actually wedged open - so no wonder we didn't see it! Why were we not informed on the way in by a member of staff when ordering our mesl, or by the chap who met and took us upstairs? Looking at other previous reviews,(but reading these after our visit), I see this has been a similar problem for many previous customers. Obviously the restaurant's policy is to keep that "surprise" a secret!
Anyway, it was a lovely meal, and the owner, his wife, and son are genuinely nice people, but the place is let down by a lack of transparency of their cash...
Read moreThis is a hidden jem!!! We went down for my partners birthday. The starters were gorgeous. I had the pate with toast, although no butter as you would get in restaurants here, it wasn't really needed though, it had a red currant sauce with it. There was so much it was lovely. My partner ordered fish soup which I tried and was gorgeous. When the mains arrived my partner asked for prawn curry but got garlic prawns, we told the waiters and it was soon resolved. Although I would have taken, or offered to take my main back, so we could eat together which they didn't, but they couldn't be more apologetic. They were so kind, very talkative and the wine was lovely, they ended up giving us another bottle and didn't charge us for both, It was a lovely gesture. And I appreciate it was a mistake so we would definitely go back. I had a fillet steak for my main and it was a huge bit of steak, although I ordered medium rare, it was rather rare in the middle but with a steak that thick I guess its to be expected. Although it was gorgeous a bit more sauce and it would have been great, although a little cold. I know this is a mixed review, but even though we had a hiccup, as I said the owners (I think they were) they are so nice and chatty. It is lovely ambiance, you sit looking out of the window and are grateful for the breeze. Reasonable prices and a great variety...
