Highland Paddy — Restaurant in Santiago del Teide

Well, my partner was not very happy going to this type of establishment. When we visit other countries we like to go local so going to an Irish bar for an English breakfast is not something we would normally do. OK, I guess we are snobs when it comes to this sort of thing, but it did exactly what it set out to do! Menu's in English, English staff and all the clientele when we eat were English. So I guess they know their audience. We ordered two regular English breakfasts for 5 euros each and two coffee's. The food was perfectly fine, as was the either instant or filtered coffee. We went there as there were not many places open at the time of our visit in January. They only took cash, I also noted that many other places had signs saying cash only!! Food is decent enough if you’re the typical British tourist who comes to Tenerife to eat what you’d eat at home anyways, there’s a man who works the bar and sometimes outside who is delightful to interact with and will make you feel super welcome.

All that being said there is a particular woman who usually resides upstairs in the dining area who will do her utmost to make you feel like everything you ask for or request is a massive hassle and will give you attitude the entire time she does it.

There’s a Scottish bar up the road that is not only cheaper for food but is full of friendly and welcoming people all night so if you’re looking for grub or pleasant interaction I’d advise heading there.

Always make a point on visiting here each year and it's all down to Deano. He is so comitted to his role as entertainments manager/entertainer/compere and goes out of his way to ensure everyone in this busy place is highly entertain ed by the amazing acts, which are different each night, as well as by himself. He is a fantastic singer, can sing just about any song requested, and puts his heart and soul into everything he does. He is always the same, upbeat, full of energy, sincerere, gives everyone a warm welcome, regardless of the number of guests, his enthusiasm for what he does is obvious and makes you want to just keep going back as no two nights are the same.
