We had two dishes. The hake was slightly undercooked and luke warm, but tasty with a decent white sauce. The meat dish was simply disgusting. It was presented as a slab of breaded meat, slathered in gravy, with a few fries sprinkled with salt. When it was placed on the table, the two of us couldn't determine what sort of meat it was. The owner/waiter said it was cordon bleu when we ordered it, so we thought chicken. But, no, it was not chicken. After eating a portion, my wife thought it was pork, I thought a really cheap cut of veal. Very tough. We asked the owner what it was, it turned out to be beef. That surprised both of us as it had absolutely no taste of beef. Hope we're not sick tomorrow. Two mains, a couple of glasses of cheap wine, and two rolls: 55 Euros. A pretty bad meal for our first night in Santillana at the end of a 23 day tour of Northern Spain. It was, without a doubt, the worst meal we've had on the trip. There must be better restaurants...
Read moreThis is absolutely the worst meal Ive had in years. They are completely unapologetic and couldn't give a fig. I recommend you avoid this place. If you want service you’ll get none. If you order fried artichoke you’ll get them covered in cheap mayo from a bottle. If you order an Aberdeen Angus burger .. please go to MacDonalds or you will not be able to eat the rubbish they produce. Honestly Scintilla is a bit disappointing! Its just a tourist trap and rather over done. A lot of rather less than charming Spanish people. If you want to walk then do your research before as the Tourist info cannot give you walking maps but Komoot and others are useful. Oh by the way nothing really opens til 11am. Laurie Lee wrote...
Read moreThe worst experience on this trip. They drizzle balsamic reduction on all the dishes to fancy up its less than the average quality. I just had its 15 euro set menu, the quantity was very small and the food prep was bare minimal. The salad with the chicken was really pathetic, how would anyone serve such quality to customers? My bf had a salad of 7 euros & beer, they put tiny bit of brown-colored tuna, which I would never put on anyone’s plate. I requested a waiter that if I can take cafe instead of desert, he said “no.” This place appears to be a tourist trap, where just put some food on a plate, since most tourist are not repeat customers. I was still hungry after the « the 2 course meal », never got the...
