Tucked away in a side street near the railway station you'd be forgiven as a visitor if you never realised it was there. Well off the beaten tourist track it's an interesting choice of location. Even when you're right on top of it it's still not that obvious. I had tried earlier in my visit to Sitges to order for pickup but the app doesn't allow you to do this so I decided to visit on a different day. With the restaurants in the centre bustling with Sunday lunchtime diners Big Als had about 5 tables occupied when I walked in. There's a QR code on the table but this nor the ordering process was explained by any member of staff. Scanning the code brings up 'Order Now's and 'Pay Now'. Sadly with another example of disjointed technology it takes you to an online menu with no ordering option. I sat for a while before a waiter came along and took the order on an iPad. What a wasted opportunity to streamline their service. I skipped the starters as they said they were designed to share, not great for a lone diner. Perhaps offering a single or double portion may help up the average spend. They menu has a choice of gourmet burgers including one that has doughnuts instead of a bun, just when you thought you'd seen it all!! I Opted for the veggie version of the BBQ burger and it was good to see it came as a meal with curly fries included. Turns out that this veggie option is actually a Beyond Burger, but I don't recall much being made about this on the menu which would be more of a draw for vegans and veggies. The burger arrived in a Reason amount of time and looked tasty. The addition of the fried fillings did make it a bit greasy so I would probably opt for one with just the burger and salad in if I return. Finally, I'm pleased to say the payment option on the QR codes does actually work so that's super easy and you don't have to wait for the bill and the card machine. Overall if you're craving a gourmet burger in Sitges then give it a try, but given the wide choice of incredible food options available throughout Sitges I'm not sure I'd be rushing back to Big Al's sometime soon. It's a real shame they don't have a better location as I am sure they would be so much busier. It would also be good if they fixed the tech so that it's joined up and delivers convenience...

Let me share the sheer brilliance that is Big Al's, arguably the crème de la crème of burger joints not only in Catalunya but quite possibly in the entirety of Spain. This spot is a slice of pure Americana right here in Barcelona.
Stepping inside, you're met with an expansive layout, offering an abundance of tables. Here's the kicker - a plethora of fountain drink options that are a rare find in Spain. What's more, they brew their own beer, the aptly named Big Sisst, and let me tell you, it's an absolute must-try.
While the staff may be slightly outnumbered, their service remains top-notch. They handle their duties with admirable efficiency and attentiveness.
Now, let's talk about the star of the show - the Luther burger. Picture this: two scrumptious donuts cradling a juicy patty and crispy bacon. It's a symphony of flavors, an absolute delight for the palate. And let's not forget about their curly fries, a marvel in their own right.
But wait, there's more. Big Al's boasts an impressive array of burger options, including some delectable veggie choices. From classic to inventive, there's something for every palate.
Our visit was nothing short of delightful, and I extend an enthusiastic invitation to everyone to partake in the marvel that is Big Al's. Trust me, you won't regret it. This place is a testament to burger...
Read moreWow.... Big Al’s is definitely gone. RIP. We went back after 2 years and it was heartbreaking (and really frustrating) to experience one of tge worse services I have ever had. Thankfully the food (although the nothing in common to the old award winning burger they use to do) didnt match the service, the food was decent hence my 2 stars. But the service? Omfg... Of course I dont know the full picture of why it was so bad (maybe short on personnel due to whatever, or maybe they were training the only 2 waiters they had or simply a total lack of experience or even simpler a total lack of care from the workers...). We waited for over 45 minutes to get the burgers, tables were coming in after us and being serve before us, some even finished their food and left, just brilliant. Once the food arrived every time we asked for something it never came, and if it came it was due to asking 3 to 4 times (NOT EXAGGERATING) luckily they didnt charge us for the ice cream than we asked twice and never came, to name a few... last but not least worth to mentioning the drain smell that welcome us when we arrived, definitely not the smell one expects when arriving to a restaurant. Once again RIP Big Al’s, you’ll always...
