STAY – These days why would you! As someone who has being to Puerto Pollensa for 40 years it takes a lot for me to criticize anything about it. I have previously been to Stay Restaurant many times in the past and until now I have always found it to be an exceptional & commendable restaurant. Disappointingly my wife & I visited in September 2021 to celebrate our wedding anniversary and discovered that things have drastically changed when we ordered the menu del dia, something of the restaurants choosing and which they should be ready and able to deliver with panache. Firstly, the length of time we waited for our main course was excruciating and when it finally came it was frankly inedible and naturally we spoke to the manager and rejected this and opted instead for a chicken breast dish, which although edible was no better than any other café in the port would have served for a fraction of the price. Having let us down once you would expect that any top restaurant with a reputation to uphold would have made an effort to get everything back on track and recover our experience. Sadly, this was not the case and the delays continued and the overall feeling we had from the diffident staff was that we were actually being given the treatment for having the audacity to complain about an inedible dish. At the end of the meal when we asked for the bill, we again asked to see the manager, who despite knowing he had let us down was hiding away. We made him aware how disappointed we were about our experience, but frankly he didn’t have two **’s to give and that is the worst thing of all about our experience and why if you take our advice you will give Stay 2021 style a...
Read moreWe recently visited Stay for a family meal of 7 people. The restaurant staff were very polite and professional, and were great to interact with.
Bread (warm) and a pumpkin creme appetiser was placed on the table as you get with most restaurants, which conerned us regarding price, but found later we weren't charged for it which was a pleasant surprise.
The staff remembered who ordered exactly what so they did not have to ask when food and drinks arrived, giving a feel of professionalism. The food was lovely, and a decent portion size given.
After we finished our meals, we were given some complimentary chocolates and complimentary digestifs were given (we had Limoncello and Amaretto)! When the bill arrived, we were indeed not charged for all of this. Overall, for the quality and quantity of food, as well as complimentary bread, the pumpkin creme thing, chocolates and digestif, it was a great restaurant and probably one of the best in value on our visit. Would definitely recommend for a meal!
I would add that because we showed up without a booking with a party of 7, there was only availability indoors. If you would like to sit outside to enjoy a view of the port, I'd suggest booking in advance to avoid...
Read moreWe arrived starving after a long flight, expecting at least a half-decent meal. What we got was a plate of raw, tasteless tuna that looked (and tasted) like it had been slapped on the plate straight from the fridge. No seasoning, no effort just pure laziness on a plate.
When we politely told the waiter the tuna was raw and inedible, his response? “I don’t eat fish, so I wouldn’t know.” You’re serving food in Mallorca a place known for seafood and your staff don’t even know what cooked tuna should look like? Laughable
I am a head chef at a Michelin-starred restaurant in London, and what we experienced here was beyond unprofessional. Nothing was done. No apology. No compensation. Not even the decency of checking back. We were ignored after asking for the bill like we were an inconvenience.
Let me be clear this isn’t just bad service. It’s a complete lack of standards. And yes, we’ll absolutely be sending someone from our team here. Just so they can see firsthand what not to do in a kitchen.
Avoid this place unless you enjoy paying for cold disappointment.
Btw I am glad that we have...
