This quaint restaurant is the definition of a hidden gem. It is tucked away into a small side street away from the noise of the town and promenade, and has a very welcoming atmosphere.
The bar and kitchen staff are friendly, decisive and make sure to check up on you to ensure a quality experience.
We came to the restaurant in the early evening just after sunset at around 8pm, and found a table immediately.
Our order first consisted of butes to share - some Canarian potatoes (~€5) with customary red and green sauces and also a small helping of their ground beef meatballs (€9.50) which came with their own sauce.
The Canarian potatoes were good, and the meatballs were some of the best I have ever had. The attention to detail in presentation and texture is much appreciated. For both of these pictures are attached.
Finally, we each had a house burger (€6.80) with some cheese (+€0.80). These were very filling, with generous portions and the same quality of meat as the meatballs. I forgot to take a picture because it was eaten straight away - having been that excellent.
For drinks we had some big beers which were very nice too.
Overall I would say this restaurant is astonishingly good at service and food alike and should be recognised for...
Read moreEl Laurel is a snack bar and restaurant in the old town of Puerto del Carmen. It is quaint with a focused menu specialising in tapas. There were a number of dishes that happened to be plant-based. We ordered the Fried Eggplant with palm honey which was super crunchy and delicious. The garlic mushrooms were cooked to perfection with exactly the right amount of bite. We also had the Padron Peppers which came in a very generous portion and were very tasty. Lastly we had the Canarian potatoes with their homemade Mojo sauces which were delicious, especially their Verde sauce. Overall I loved the tapas here and our whole group was very impressed with what we ordered. I would add that the pizzas did seem to be of a lesser quality so I would definitely stick to the tapas here! Also I would say that the service and the price point were brilliant, much cheaper than just a few streets towards the coast. I would definitely advise their tapas and would love to...
Read moreSo, we were looking for something traditional and having read the reviews thought this was going to be the special place, fortunately we didn't go the day before as planned, this was our anniversary, any way, service was given with a smile, but in all honesty the food was bang average, we opted for the tapas, and we're very underwhelmed, garlic prawns had be still down the back but the digestive tract not removed, the squid was tasteless (possibly mass produced frozen?) meatballs extremely salty, fried peppers were good canarian potato's exactly as every other resteraunt, basically it promised so much but delivered so little, very...
