We used to love this Chinese restaurant and would eat here a few times every holiday, but sadly last night will be the last time. We had a table booked for 9 people, and while the order wasn’t complicated, the food service was a complete disaster.
After waiting around 40 minutes, dishes began arriving in dribs and drabs. Some people got rice but no main dish, others received mains but no sides, and some received nothing at all. It took another 20 minutes before my main finally arrived, by which point my rice and sauce were stone cold. People at our table finished eating before others even received their food, which completely ruined the experience of dining together.
Every time we called a member of staff over, they were short-tempered and dismissive, blaming “new chefs” instead of apologising. At one point, I asked to cancel the missing dishes as people no longer wanted to eat, but only then did the food appear—far too late. We ended up boxing up what was left just to take away.
I raised the issue with the manager, but he was incredibly rude and refused to take responsibility. When I asked for some form of compensation, he kept repeating that they had “new staff problems,” which is not an excuse customers should have to accept. No apology was ever offered during the entire evening. After an argument, he reluctantly offered a 10% discount, but still charged us for the main dish that never arrived properly.
We’ve been to events with 300+ people where food is served together, yet this restaurant couldn’t handle one table of 9. The poor service, long waits, and disrespectful treatment from management were extremely disappointing. If you want slow service and rude staff, then this is the place for you. Otherwise, I recommend avoiding it completely and heading to Oriental World further down the strip for a much...
Read moreOrdered takeaway for my hotel room, as husband unwell one night. It was super fast for takeaway, even though they said it would be 30 minutes or more. (I went for nearly an hour next store for a few pints in slatterys pub, which also said it was a great Chinese on the island btw 😋😜). I had the 1/4 crispy duck pancakes (had lovely, fall of the bone parts, and lovely, shredded, chunks) and the honey, chilli crispy shredded beef (better than my local at home to be completely honest) and it's top awarded and we only order from it! Well worth it and probably nice to sit in, which we didn't get to do unfortunately! Had loads left and doubled for lunch next day (microwave in hotel room 😉). Well worth the visit. P.s friends we met last year, we bumped into again and said they tried it and recommended it to us....
Read moreGreat dining experience at Great Asia! We were greeted with kind employees and given thorough, yet efficient service. Every employee was helpful and courteous! There were plenty of options for food, drinks, and desserts, all at reasonable/affordable prices. The food was all very good and we could tell they used fresh ingredients. The food was delivered quickly and arrived hot and fresh to the table. The restaurant is feels so open with high ceilings and ample seating (which means no/limited wait time- huge plus!). It is beautifully decorated and everything down to the dish-ware was spotless. Free Wifi is also available to enjoy while you’re dining. The Canary Islands are not known for their Asian food, but this is a solid option if you’re looking for Asian food...
