"AVOID" !! Do not use this bar restaurant if you are only here for a week, you will waste a day of your holiday waiting to be served !!.
We went into la jungle on our trip in January 2023, it was on the beachfront and a nice location so we thought we would give it a try. We were greeted by a young lady who took our drinks order and asked us to sit down, we then proceeded to order some food and relaxed, we didn't order anything fancy or to complicated, Just a Caesar salad and a club sandwich (Easy enough you would think).
After 30 minutes of waiting for the food I asked the young lady "Would our food be much longer please?" Her reply was polite and she offered to ask the chef for us, No problem at all . . . . . In the 30 minutes we were sat in the bar we were not offered another drink, and the serving staff were noticeably absent?, we just sat there with empty glasses, starving & thirsty staring out to sea wondering where our food & the possibility of another drink were, after all we are on holiday ??.
An Irish gentleman entered the bar and sat behind us, he was served by a wiry haired old woman who asked "What can i get you?" No polite welcome or a "Hello" just an abrupt what can I get you !. The gentleman immediately apologised to her for touching one of the pictures in the bar on his visit yesterday, he said "You scolded me yesterday for touching the picture, so I wanted to apologise??". The wiry haired old lady just answered "Fine" and proceeded to take his order, Please don't forget this is a paying customer in the winter months, were footfall is limited and first impressions last a lifetime !!!".
So another 10 minutes have passed now, and we still have no food or drinks of any kind on our table !!. I politely asked the young lady if we can cancel our food order please, as we have waited for over 45 minutes and have still not been served the simple club sandwich & the Cesar salad ??, she politely nodded and proceeded to the kitchen to cancel our order.
At this point the wiry haired old lady appeared and began a torrent of abuse towards us asking why we wanted to cancel the meals ??. I simply told her we have waited over 45 minutes for our food, not one other person in the restaurant is eating and we don't understand what is taking so long ??. The old lady rolled her eyes at me and said "Well its ready now I will go get it" I told her again we did not want the food and requested the bill, again we received a torrent of abuse of the old lady screaming "Well what are we supposed to do with the food that the chef has cooked for you?".
Working in customer services as a manager for over 7 years, I told her "I do not appreciate you rolling your eyes at me, this is very rude and not customer focussed at all". It is none of our concern what you do with the food, we no longer want it and will not pay for it. I politely asked for the bill for the drinks we had had, and she walked away. Not two minutes later our food arrived and was slammed on the table in front of us by the wiry haired old lady. This is certainly no way to approach, serve or treat a paying guest in your establishment (especially during the quieter winter month or at anytime for that matter).
We left immediately and went around the corner where we found a fantastic bar called "Spoons", we sat down and received a very warm & friendly welcome, the place was packed, there was a really lovely vibe about the place and the staff all looked happy in their work. There was literally food on every table, every kind of drink imaginable including cocktails, wine, Guinness, lager . . . . there were drinks and food galore, this was a truly a very happy environment.
Avoid La Jungla at all costs, if you don't want to die of thirst & starvation and don't mind wasting a whole morning of your holiday waiting to be served !!. Enter at your peril you have been warned :0( 1 out of 5 stars for us, very...
Read moreWould of been 5 stars but we waited over 45 minutes for breakfast - waitress apologised as she had put other people's order who came in well after us before us. But them the manager Vicky said that the others had come in before us and we were wrong . If she looked at the number on the order pad she would of seen we were definitely in before the other customers . The waitress admitted the issue - these things happen but the manageress Vicky made the situation worse by saying we were lying .Not good customer.service and as my Nan used to say - they can only sell their goods in one place but my money can be ...
Read moreReturned to Jungla today after a great time a couple of days ago. Quite different today. The cocktails were excellent, but unfortunately the waitress was ignorant to the point of rudeness. No idea why this should be so, but it was. We were then given an inflated bill - €22 more than it should have been. When questioned, after an initial denial, the waitress mumbled that 'it must have been the Germans' who were apparently at the table before us.......Enjoy the cocktails, but check your bill - unless it is the lovely waitress that served us the first time...
