Bar El Mercado — Restaurant in Tarifa

A Frenchman I met who lives several months of the year in Tarifa showed me this unpretentious tapas bar, restaurant and cafe that is located inside Tarifa's main fish and vegetable market.

The place has tables inside the arched courtyard and it is basic and fairly cheap. A cafe or a chilled glass of very cold Tio Pepe or a coffee costs only 1 Euro.

While I have not eaten a meal here, it must have fresh food since it is literally at the market. I will try the food on my next visit. There is also a side entrance to the small bar area, but you must walk down...

Una pena por lo desaprovechado del sitio. La comida está rica, el precio no es más barato que en otros sitios, pero los tiempos dejan mucho que desear. Te sientas y no limpian la mesa de los anteriores comensales (tienes la carta de papel que hace de mantel), el suelo lleno de servilletas (cuando las camareras no están sirviendo y pueden darle una pasadita), platos que estando ya preparados o con tiempo de preparación mínima (una ensaladilla, unos tomates), tardan la vida.
