Wonderful! My girlfriend and I have been in Tarragona for over a week, wining and dining, looking for that special place and boy did we find it. I call in to make a reservation and book a table for 2, without issue. Upon arrival we were warmly greeted and seated.
The decor is perfect. The stone arches and dark wooden decor create a romantic yet casual ambiance. We are history/antique lovers and it satiated us nicely. Plenty to for the eyes to enjoy.
Our waitress was Ivona and she was very sweet, helpful and attentive. Shes also polish so we got to chit chat in our native language so that's another personal plus.
The tables have wine at the ready so she cracked open a red while we ordered.
The menu is diverse and filled with solid choices. We order the tuna tartar to start. Can I just say "Holy Santa Tecla!" I've never had better. So delicious, I was instantly in heaven, smiling, laughing and weeping from joy. The charm of the dish was that it was topped with wasabi ice cream! I know, sounds crazy but it worked splendidly. Just pure perfection.
For our main I order the duck breast with red fruits and my girl picks the special which is the veal sirloin. Ivona tells us the veal should be brought to us rare and we are in total agreement. Thats exactly how we like our meats. Needless to say, our mouth orgasm continues. The veal melts in your mouth and the balsamic reduction on top is unbelievably delicious. My duck, I order medium rare and it was cooked to perfection. Theres a red fruit reduction to accompany the duck and its a romantic dance of passion on my plate. Not to mention the portions are generous but not over the top. We lick the plates clean...
Pretty full, we just cant stop and we ask for desert. Our other server, whose name I unfortunately forgot, (handsome and charming waiter who reminds me of Vin Diesel) recommends us the panna cotta and the home made chartreuse ice cream. Again Santa Tecla smiles on us and showers us with joy as we lick our plates clean. We finish our bottle and make our way out, not really wanting it to be over. As we finish paying, Ivona offers us a homemade herbal shot to digest and yet again, delicious.
If i could i would give this place 6 stars. Im from NY and this place puts the most reputable places to shame. I am definitely coming back. Thank you all for the most...
Read moreFebruary is when the restaurants in Tarragona's old quarter celebrate gastronomy. They even put together a little booklet listing participating restaurants and their special menus.
We were lucky enough to snag a table here on a Saturday night without a reservation. Their offer is s 50 euro menu for 32 euros. How can you pass up a deal like that? There is also a wine offer: when you purchase one of the special wines to have with dinner, you get a bottle of the same wine to take with you.
They started us off with chopped tomatoes with honey and a dollop of cream cheese. An excellent sign of good things to come. For my first course I chose a salad with foie gras and it was superb. It was also quite large, but I did it justice. My husband's choice was shrimp that were perfectly cooked.
We both chose the venison for our main course and it was outstanding. We have never seen deer on any Spanish menu, so were quite intrigued. It looked just like a filet mignon, was cooked exactly as ordered (medium rare), and was very moist and flavorful. It was served with padrón peppers and a roasted potato half. The black finishing salt gave it that extra little edge.
My dessert was a divine toffee panna cotta, while my husband chose the delectable white chocolate pudding. These were accompanied by a glass of very nice cava.
We had already decided we would visit Tarragona again, and now we know it will be in February so as to partake of this gastronomic extravaganza again. Next time, though, we'll have...
Read moreWe had a fantastic dining experience. The food was absolutely amazing from start to finish. I ordered the Grilled Quartet, which featured a delicious mix of Creole chorizo, Catalan egg sausage, Wagyu blood sausage, and spicy chorizo. Each had its own distinct flavor and was perfectly cooked — a real treat for anyone who loves bold, smoky meats.
My wife went for the venison, which was beautifully tender and full of rich, earthy flavor. Our daughter had a burger, and even that was a standout — juicy, well-seasoned, and clearly made with quality ingredients.
To start, we shared a xató salad and some Patatas Bravas. Both were excellent choices. The xató was fresh and flavorful, and the Patatas Bravas came with a unique black sauce that was a surprising twist on a classic — it looked intriguing and tasted even better.
The service was top-notch throughout. Our waiter was friendly and attentive, and he made a real effort to explain each dish to us, even with a bit of a language barrier. It really added a personal touch to the meal.
Overall, an unforgettable experience — fantastic food, warm service, and a great atmosphere. We’d...
