The truth is you can tell the waiters have a bad work ambience and they are defensive among each other, making them be defensive to customers too.

We had an unpleasant experience with the service, we made a reservation, when we arrive we say hi to the waiter that is closer to the entrance, three times, he never replies. Ok, no worries, the next waiter comes by and asks us if we have a reservation and takes us to an indoor space, but one of the persons from my group asks if it’s possible outdoor and he says sure, no problem, take a table outside, -but with no guidance so we really assume it’s not a problem. The order is ordered through a paper menu that you fill with amount of food, they recommend 4 entrances and around 4 tacos per person. We are not ready to order the tacos but we ask if we can order the entrances. The waiter (same one that didn’t say hi) explodes and tells us in a very rude tone “no you can’t and we already did the courtesy of letting you sit outside.“ we feel disheartened to be at this place that treats guests in a completely defensive manner. If we are explained the system, it’s not a problem, but no communication is done beforehand, and we are only asking if it’s possible but they feel threatened. One of the persons in my group feel bad with the waiter and starts to argue with him and he asks us to move back to the table we had seen when we arrived, but it’s occupied so he sends us to the entrance where it’s really uncomfortable. We already feel very bad with them and we decide to leave after asking to fill a complain with the municipality. We are charged for our drinks, the superiors from the waiter defend him, instead of asking themselves if they are having conflict among...

Una auténtica vergüenza.

Reservamos mesa para cenar a las 21:45h. En la web avisan claramente que, si no asistes o cancelas con menos de 3 horas de antelación, te penalizan cobrándote 15€ de la tarjeta que se deja de garantía. Llegamos puntuales, como es lógico, y nos encontramos una cola enorme. Me acerqué a preguntar a una camarera si, teniendo reserva, debíamos esperar esa cola, y de forma muy borde y poco profesional me dijo que sí, que no tenía que dar ningún nombre, que esperara la cola como todos.

Después de 15 minutos de pie y sin que nadie nos aclarara nada, decidimos preguntar a otra camarera (una mujer de pelo rizado, que luego supimos que era la jefa). Le expliqué que no nos parecía justo tener que esperar esa cola teniendo reserva, y que si decidíamos irnos por no poder esperar, no nos cobraran los 15€ de penalización. Su respuesta fue absolutamente fuera de lugar y con una prepotencia increíble: “Perdona, todavía ni te he atendido, esta cola es para la terraza. Si no queréis esperar, hay mesas dentro”. Esta información nadie nos la dio antes, ni siquiera cuando preguntamos. ¿Cómo esperan que uno lo adivine?

Para no complicar más la noche, aceptamos sentarnos dentro. Pero la situación empeoró. Pedimos las bebidas (agua, Coca-Cola y dos cócteles) y, tras 10 minutos, nadie nos había tomado nota. Tuvimos que llamar a una camarera. Pasaron otros 10 minutos más y seguíamos sin nada. Me levanté para preguntar por las bebidas, y la respuesta fue “ahora os lo llevamos”. Después de 25 minutos, solo nos trajeron el agua. Ni rastro del resto.

Cuando mi mujer, con toda la paciencia agotada, le comentó de forma educada a la camarera que si no podían atendernos, lo entendíamos pero que nos lo dijeran, la “jefa” (la del pelo rizado) se puso en plan chulesco, agresivo y fuera de sí, diciendo frases como: “O cenáis tranquilos o os vais, o llamo a la policía, porque tengo derecho de admisión”. Nos dejó perplejos. ¿Así se trata a unos clientes que han esperado casi una hora para ser atendidos? ¿De verdad? Nos humilló delante de todos los clientes. Pedimos su nombre para poder reclamar, y nos contestó de muy malas formas que no nos lo daría, que ella era la “jefa” y que hiciéramos lo que quisiéramos.

Nos fuimos casi a las 23:00h, sin haber cenado, con toda la noche arruinada, y sin posibilidad de encontrar otro sitio abierto. Una experiencia horrible, que no le deseo a nadie. El restaurante tiene una gestión caótica, una atención pésima, y un trato al cliente vergonzoso. No entiendo cómo pueden seguir abiertos con un personal así, especialmente esa “jefa”, que lo único que hizo fue faltar al respeto a mi familia y humillarnos públicamente.

This is one of the best Mexican food restaurants I've been to -- I've had excellent Mexican meals in LA, DF (Mexico City), and San Antonio, and now I can add Frida in Tarragona to that list. It completely surpassed our expectations and sets a high standard.

The service was prompt and friendly, the servers spoke great English (though my partner speaks Spanish!)

The outdoor terrance is full of plants and light. I really liked the incredible blooming monstera and potted cacti.

We got the guac, one of the best we've ever had. Perfect texture and lime with addictive salsas on the side.

We got the chorizo quesadilla, which is done with a small tortilla and fried. The beef tongue taco was so tender and flavorful, the grilled octopus taco had bright flavors and was absolutely stunning, delicious and honored the ingredients.

We look forward to visiting this gem of a restaurant the next time we're in Tarragona. Thank you for a...
