I don’t generally rate places I’m not impressed with. But this one was a little…off.
First, as with a couple other places in this plaza, they were very obviously hesitant to take a solo diner. I’ve actually never encountered this anywhere I’ve traveled because anyone stingy enough to care has shared tables. I intended to order two entrees and an app either way because I like leftovers; the server actually warmed up after this. The saag paneer was absolutely fine, though I asked for hot (I.e. made it clear I would like it very spicy) and received a dish with what I would consider the bare minimum of spice. That’s fine.
It may be normal to Spain but I have traveled many places in Europe as well as home and never been charged for rice when ordering an entree (curry). I was already neck deep, so 3 Euro was added to my bill. I am uncertain as to why a cup serving of rice cost that much, when I know for a fact what I received was about .20c.
Additionally, I ordered the vegetable korma; if you like korma and know how it typically tastes, know this one is VERY SWEET. The vegetables in it were very, very clearly, by both sight and texture, frozen mixed bags. It was pretty much inedible but I sifted it out because I hadn’t been eating a lot of vegetables in the past few days, lol. I cannot understand why a restaurant, in the midst of the markets with inexpensive and beautiful produce in Tarragona, would use frozen cubed nonsense.
As a last bit of information, I asked for agua and was served what was VERY OBVIOUSLY by taste not the bottle I was presented with; it was tap water. I was charged for lukewarm tap water in a bottle of what was once an actual bottle of filtered water. Amazing they think people can’t taste the difference.
Two stars for edible saag paneer and vegetable pakora, a nice interior, and the younger server who was actually nice. Zero for the rest. I’ve never been to an Indian restaurant that had the gall to use very clearly frozen chopped vegetable mixes and then charge 8,90 E....
Read moreThe food here really goes well with the exquisite taste by the sea life. We really prefer seafood to be prepared in a way where it does not manipulate the original taste of fish which was done here. The nonveg platter was really worth a try. 5/5 (would really appreciate if the food colouring was not added) The garlic naan was best of what we had in Spain 5/5 Chicken kolhapurir or some different chicken (could not remember the name) - was really prepared according to indian taste. 4/5 The pulao was good with right amount of cashews and raisins - 4/5
Overall must visit place in tarragona. Could be hot during summers but the food here is great. Wide selections of wine...
Read moreI definitely recommend eating at Namaste (in Tarragona). The food and service have been top-par every time I have eaten there. I have tried a different platter each time I go and have never been disappointed. I am quite familiar with Indian cuisine but my friends were not, yet they thoroughly enjoyed the platters I recommended they try as an introduction. They loved them all. The food stays true to the authentic flavours and spice (levels). The service is excellent. The ambiance is perfect for a date or a small group of friends/colleagues. Super impressed and I will certainly be going back many, many...
