Acatife — Restaurant in Teguise

Amazing space, lovely people, but let down by thoroughly average (if not poor) food on our visit - especially after expectations were high after reading positive reviews of the place. Prawns and garlic were good. But both of the tomato and lentil-based soups were ordinary at best (and left us with suspicions of can origins...). Goat fritura, chicken breast and sirloin came in copious portions, but were stodgy and seemingly destined to a tourist market. Accompanying potatoes and ratatouille were genuinely poor when compared to other stuff eaten during our trip. Red wine by the glass was truly grotty - I suspect a past-it local Listan Negro. A shame, as the fino served to start was the ever-excellent Too Pepe. Placed very central, restaurante Acatife is definitly worth a visit. The staff is very professional and friendly, also for the kids, and the food tastes good and fresh. Great quality to price ratio, in my opinion. There are different rooms with woodwork, giving it an authentic look and pleasant atmosphere. Since we went the first time last year, we have often gone back. The different fishes of the day that I had so far were delicious. Both the meat and fish can be grilled, which gives it a really good flavor. The menu is not too extensive, but everything we tried so far tastes very well, including the different cakes for desserts (or just for with a coffee). They advertise vegetarian and vegan options.

I asked them for a vegetarian dish and they served me spaghetti bolognese. I informed them it had meat. They then brought me a plate of cooked spaghetti with nothing. Third time's a charm and I was served overcooked spaghetti with boiled vegetables and no salt. It was inedible.

My companion had the breaded fish and it was okay but not great.

Would not recommend this place, and I hope they stop using veggie dishes as a selling point when they can't accommodate...
