We called the restaurant that we were 10-15 minutes late. This was not a problem and they were very friendly on the phone. When we couldn't find the location, we had to call again and one of them waved outside to point it out. Al together a friendly approach through all the visit.
All 3 of us took exactly the same starter; Carpaccio Di Manzo and the same main course Pasta Carbonara. We were just in the mood for Carpaccio, there is nothing like good quality thinly sliced raw beef when served well. It was served well, but the beef was strange, it didn't look raw and it didn't taste raw. It was salty and a bit like cured beef. Maybe it's a version of Carpaccio that I never heard off, but it was not to my taste. It wasn't terrible or anything, but still..
On to the main course and don't look back I thought. I normally don't order a pasta carbonara in most restaurants as its done with bacon and and cream most of the time and a wrong cheese is used. It's become pretty common, so I normally just avoid it and make it myself. When looking at the menu, I noticed it was done in the real roman way. Eggs, Pecorino Romano, Guancale and Black Pepper. When the course arrived I realised I was blindsided by the "pasta" carbonara title. It might have been in the description (not sure now), but the pasta you are supposed to use with Carbonara traditionally is spaghetti, this was served with penne. Some people ask for penne, but it's not traditional. The pasta was a bit too al dente to my taste, but I suppose that is a preference. The thing I really didn't like was the undercooked guancale and lumpy and tasteless sauce. Using pecorino Romano should give it a stronger taste, but my guess is there wasn't enough used. The food experience was bad in my opinion, but hey, I booked through the Fork app and that automatically gave me a 30% discount, so I thought I could not complain to much.
Overal the service was super friendly but very slow. Nevertheless friendly people are always a big plus.
When the bill came they forgot to apply the 30% discount from the Fork app. We decided to let it slide, give a small tip because they were so friendly and the speed was maybe due being understaffed, but forgetting the discount was sloppy nonetheless and would be more acceptable if the food was top notch.
With any restaurant I would say, you have to try to know. Now we know and we won't be back. Price wise nothing to complain about, under 50 euros voor 2 starters, 3 mains and...
Read moreVisited Malaga, Spain in late November 2022 which is a slow season for them. Several eateries were closed. This small family run restaurant was perfectly located right on the beach walkway very close to our Airbnb. A Casa Nostra is by far THE BEST homemade pizza we've ever had. The toppings were incredibly fresh and so flavorful. The Spanish cheese and pepperoni gives their pizza a much different taste than in the U.S. Their pre-selection pizza options were unique but went very well together. The restaurant matriarch offered me a taste of their lemoncello- WOW AMAZING!! You HAVE TO try this place if...
