Restaurante José Cerdán — Restaurant in Torremolinos

I was in Torremolinos for a conference in October 2023 and had one evening(17/10/2023) to venture out and find something local. I found this restaurant mostly empty at around 8:30pm as they were opening. It is by the beach and on a popular walkway so there is lots of activity of people walking and talking on the walkway. This makes a fun atmosphere. The place was very clean. I had steamed mussels, Pulpo de la casa, and the house red wine... The mussels were perfect and they gave me enough time to finish before the main course. the octopus was phenomenal. I could cut it with a fork and it was super flavorful with the potatoes. The wait staff was extremely friendly and kept my wine glass at an acceptable level. I had a cappuccino for desert and it was also perfect. Worst and most expensive dinner in Torremolinos. Sangria is 18.50 euros per litre. Most restaurants in the area offer same for 12.50. And most of the that litre is ice. Bread rolls served in plastic, definitely not fresh. We didn’t touch those, but they charged 1.50 per roll. We ordered a big freshly caught fish for family to be cooked on grill. They convinced us the fish to be cooked in salt, which is not even a bit testier, just much more expensive. Ordered wine for the fish. We didn’t get it until we finished the fish. Besides that, they gave us a table right in a main pass-way, noisy and continuously hit by passing customers and waiters, but that was just our luck that night. Anyway, spoiled evening. One of the many restaurants lining the Malaga-Torremolinos boulevard. We actually choose this one because of the google reviews. Food is fine. This restaurant specializes in sea food and has plenty to offer. We choose the 2p sea paella, which was very nice Service is not really that interested and does their thing, nothing more nothing less. The restaurant itself is pretty basic. The only sparkle is has is the large wood grill outside where the grill the sardines. Also: first restaurant here in Spain that does not als if you need bread/sticks but simply puts it on the table and charges you afterwards. Not sure what to...
