Chiringuito Familiar — Restaurant in Torremolinos

We (party of two ) went by to have lunch thinking of the menu of the day, about 8€ -11€. We were informed they can offer us other off the menu options. The Rodaballo, ( white fish )and Calamar. We though it would be like the typical fish and calamar we had ordered in other chiringuitos. We were never informed of the size nor the price tag! The fish was about 15 inches long, plenty for a party of four and the calamar was also a good size. Price tag for each was 35€ !! Far cry from the typical chiringuito prices. This was a purposeful rippoff and scam! We felt as we had funded their COVID recovery fund. Lesson learned, always ask how much and trust no one! No scrupples!!

Mi pareja y yo pasamos por este chiringuito pensando en comer el menu del dia, alredeor de 8-11€. Nos informaron que no tenian y nos podia ofrecer el Rodaballo y calamar. En ningún momento se nos informo del tamaño ni el precio. El pescado media alrededor de 35 cm, suficiente como para 4 personas y el calamar de un tamaño mucho mas grande de lo que uno Normalmente pide. La comida estuvo bien pero cuando nos llego la cuenta, para nuestra sorpresa cada plato era de 35€ !!!! Nos sentimos asaltados! Y como si hubieramos contribuido al fondo de recuperacion de COVID!! Que inescrupulosa la persona que nos...

Service was beyond poor. We had a booked table for four adults and one child. Ordering was difficult; it took 10 minutes to get the staff's attention to order drinks before dinner. After the drinks arrived, we were forgotten again, spending more time trying to get menus. Once we decided what to eat, we waited another 10 minutes to place our order. The Beef Stew with French Fries was tasteless, resembling something straight out of a can, with so much watery broth it filled nearly half the plate. The "French Fries" were actually chips/crisps. When we pointed out that the French Fries were missing, the staff initially claimed the chips were French Fries. After we disagreed, they checked with the kitchen, returned with French Fries, and offered an apology. They also forgot to bring one of the extra dishes but included it on the bill, which was corrected in the end. Throughout our visit, no one checked if we needed anything or if the food was satisfactory—zero attention. Meanwhile, the staff prioritized tasks like checking the stones in the flower beds next to us or cleaning the sidewalk over attending to our table. The other dishes vegeterian paella, the pasta for the kid...

Ok so we were "lucky" to get a barrel table (next to the toilets - one without light and one without paper) as all tables were supposed to be booked. First, the service seemed confused and they gave me an English menu, but the waiter didn't understand fried chicken (or even "pollo frito") and he had to send us another waiter despite the fact that I spoke Spanish and it was the ONLY chicken item on the menu... Eggplants were ok but some pieces had very hard skin. The fried chicken is clearly frozen chicken (which is okay-ish) but it was not even well-cooked, we only ate the thin parts as the middle was thicker and still grayish. I showed it to the waiter and he just said "not cooked enough?"... well yes! House wine was not very good either. I wish it would have been full before we arrived and ate somewhere else. They should do smaller portions but...
