IO Restaurante — Restaurant in Torremolinos

Reviewed from 16th July 24, Nice looking pace, so went in to try, not a great choice on the menu, but was able to order something, my wife and I ordered separate meals, and a drink each, took a while for part of the food order appeared, that's where it all fell apart, my wife's meal was served, but nothing was said to me, about my meal, waited a couple of minutes but still no meal, I insisted that my wife started hers or it wasa. gona be cold ,tried to catch the eye of one of the waiters, but you could tell they where avoiding me, eventually the lady waitress, came and said my meal would be a couple of minutes, but it wasn't, eventually as my wife finished hers. Mine appeared. The idea is to eat out together, totally spoiled the evening. As where where sat there, the couple at the next table, had the same experience, asked for the bill, when it arrived, I made a complaint about the service, but just got a look, then another customer came up and asked the waiter where his meal was, asked if they where to show good will by reducing the bill, but was told that wasn't going to happen. So BEWARE the service is AWFUL, so if your looking for a good meal DON'T GO IN HERE.

Poor from start to finish. Arrived and seated ourselves. Eventually came over to ask what we wanted. We ordered starters and mains, which they brought to us all at the same time. The prawns pil pil had over cooked prawns and stale bread. The croquettes were mush and had brown salad leaves. Now for the mains, 2 x spaghetti vongole, (which had been waiting in the kitchen while we ate the starters) really poor. Just oil and massive clumps of uncooked garlic, clams were either unopened of empty. I was really disappointed because this is the reason I went to an “authentic” Italian place, but these guys have no idea of how to cook. We had a bottle of wine, for which no ice bucket ever came, we had to get our own cutlery from another table, we weren’t asked at any point if we were enjoying the meal. Just an utter disappointment from start to finish. Then they wanted over €85 for the “pleasure”. There were many other people around us complaining as well. This is a poorly run restaurant that serves terrible...

Situated in a prime beach position, we wondered why it was mostly empty when the rest were full. Saturday lunch time. The Aperol spritz was 5 euro. Bargain! Except the worst, most watery Spritz I have ever wasted money on. The strawberry daiquiri at 9 euro was almost tasteless and could not detect any alcohol content. Took about 20 minutes to get them. We ordered a hamburger to share and because the drinks took so long, waited and waited. Eventually asked about our order only to be told she had made a mistake and had not passed the order on. No apology. Nothing. Told them their drinks were watery and they tried to defend it. Now I know why every other restaurant was full except them. Don't waste your money. To the owners. Lift your game! You'll go bust...
