A disgraceful experience which the restaurant should be ashamed of.
I went to Che Bolú for dinner with some friends. We noticed that some tables on the terrace were reserved, so we went inside. Nobody attended us so we found a table with no reserved sign on and sat down.
After about 10 minutes a waiter (grey haired man) came over to store a bottle of gas in a space near our table . He greeted us but did not serve us. Finally after 20 minutes we managed to get a waitress' attention and we were able to order.
Our drinks arrived, and then the waitress came back and asked if we had reserved the table. We said we had not, and she explained it was reserved. We apologised and offered to move immediately, and explained that there had been no reserved sign on the table. We said we had no problem moving onto the terrace where there were empty tables. Everything was very friendly, and the waitress came back to tell us everything was sorted and we did not need to move.
Shortly after, the grey haired waiter came over to us and said to us, in an extremely aggressive way, that when a person walks into a restaurant they cannot just sit down at a table. He said we should have asked first, and that he is in a lot of trouble now. His tone was rude, aggressive, and dismissive. I presume he had forgotten to put a 'reserved' sign on the table and wanted us to feel bad for his incompetence. He said that the table was for his 'bosses' and he might not have a job tomorrow because of us.
He was visibly angry and his aggression made us feel so uncomfortable. We asked him to bring the manager and he just walked off and completely ignored us. Finally we decided there was no option than to leave the table, pay for our drinks and leave.
This was really inconvenient, because by now it was 9.30pm and we had not eaten, however we were not prepared to eat in an establishment where a member of staff had been so rude and aggressive.
The management did apologise about the situation, and after I persistently asked for a complaint form they did give it me (I had to insist - whereas it should have been given when we asked).
This is a real shame because I have eaten in Che Bolú in Torremolinos many, many times over the years and never had any problem. I will not...
Read moreIn my opinion the best place to eat in Torremolinos. The food is top quality and there is a great selection on offer. The chicken is unique and amazing. Steaks delicious and fantastic value. Most meats are barbecued on view. Portion sizes are generous and value for money. Caesar salad is the best I've tasted. You could eat here every night and have something different. A pizza is enough to feed two adults. Ok you have to wait as all orders are cooked freshly, but that's part of the pleasure of eating here. It may not be overly plush, but it is spotlessy clean and a warm welcoming atmosphere. The service here is efficient, helpful and very very friendly. If you chat with your waiter/ waitress you will find them top class. They will explain any dish you want. If you are family they will suggest buying a 2 litre bottle of minerals rather than individual drinks. Much better value. Its one of those restaurants where you get the impression that customer satisfaction is more important than profits. This is shown clearly by the fact Che Bolu is usually packed with local Spanish repeat customers and repeat tourists. We had the pleasure of being served on numerous occasions by many pleasant staff and one in particular called Jasmine (like a flower). This girl was just exceptional. Probably the best I have come across. Everything done with a beaming smile and a credit to Che Bolu. Im sure they appreciate her and the others. They all seem so happy to help the customers. The place is kept really clean and all the cutlery plates and glasses are meticulously cleaned. I would recommend Che Bolu 100%. Anyone complaining about this place is probably someone that shouldn't be there. Well...
Read moreReally bad. Ordred steak. The meat was so tough it was impossible to eat. More than half of the meat was bones and sinews. I didn't want to make a scandal, I just paid and left the restaurant hungry. I had to eat elsewhere. The portion of fries was extremely small, and they tasted bad. On top of that - overpriced prices that do not match the quality, and the interior and furnishings resemble a canteen, not a restaurant. The staff also made an extremely bad impression on me. There were only two tables in the entire restaurant, and one of the waitresses remembered to clean while we were eating. She walked around between the tables and swept for 20-30 minutes. I will never go back again, and not reccomend it to anyone. Talked with some friends that live in Torremolinos, and they told me that the level of this restaurant has decreased a lot recently. I dont know what is the reason, but it is very bad right now. Dont use your time and money on it. It so many other good places in Torremolinos...
