Lunch with the locals! When on holiday we always try and choose at least one restaurant where we can eat with the locals and enjoy the atmosphere, Lanjaron was just that! This restaurant is located in a side street a short walk from Calle San Miguel. We decided to eat from the 3 course Menú del Día which consisted of starters, main course, desserts, bread and a drink for just 9€! We both ordered soup for our starters, chickpea and seafood. For mains meatballs and a selection of fried fish and for desserts rice pudding and crème Catalana. Every dish was well cooked, and the portions very generous. The Sprite was a large bottle and we had an extra beer and our bill came to just 20€! We arrived at 1pm and when we left just after 2pm there was a queue in the road with more people waiting to come in. The service was friendly and efficient throughout. Upon leaving we noticed a couple eating “steak on the stone” which is something we love and would try if we were to return. This is a very unpretentious no frills restaurant so if you are looking for Michelin star food keep walking! I’ve been dining at Restaurante Lanjaron for several years now – easily over 30 visits – and it has never once disappointed. This is one of those rare places where the quality, service, and prices stay consistently excellent over time.

This is when my loyalty stops. I have always admired this restaurant and recommended but the way that I was treated today was unacceptable. I have booked a table for 7 people at 13.30. I was first to arrive at 13.30 and told the server that my companions are on their way. I was denied entry in a rude manner of speaking. The server closed back the chain blocker from the entrance when he learned that my companions are still on their way. A gesture that explains that I was totally not welcomed. Late is late, but I don't think a frequent customer can be treated this way.

I don't think that this is a way to handle frequent customers. At 13.35, I have turned my back and told the server that i'm cancelling the reservation. It's better not to bring friends to this restaurant with this kind of service mentality
