la Esquina — Restaurant in Torrevieja

Bar la Esquina is a gem in Torrevieja. Sergio, son of the owner, is an excellent host and explained clearly (in very good English) what each course was and that we should not order too much. When the food arrived we were very impressed; the jamon was excellent, the prawns sublime, and the patatas bravas the best we have had in a long time. Then came the calamari - definitely the best we have eaten in Torrevieja (and we have tried some of the"fancy" tapas places). Bar la Esquina is amazing. I had a mixed sandwich with potatoes. That is a ham and cheese toast with fries. I found a plastic thing from the bread container in the sandwich. The server seemed pretty untouched by that. Luckily, the bread was barely toasted, so the plastic had not melted. Moreover, the fries were barely cooked.
