Nautilus Restaurante — Restaurant in Torrevieja

We have read some bad reviews recently about this restaurant situated at the seaside, but we thought we could give this eating house a fair try. We're sorry to say that the hospitality does indeed leave much to be desired. The surroundings of this establishment are perfect and the chef deserves a big compliment. But all the effect that the kitchen staff have put in the preparation and making of the food are neutralized by the serving and behaviour of the restaurant waiting staff. For starters we ordered some bread with aioli. There is a non-smoking rule so our companions went to smoke. Before they came back the staff almost took the bread off the table. When we pointed out that we hadn't finished with the dish yet we got an angry face from the waiter dressed in black. The paella and steak were very good and tasteful. But as the table was cleared, the waiter clumsily dropped the knife on one of us, which caused a stain. Can happen but this waiter already had given us some bad vibes. While we were finished with the paella the black clothed waiter came again to clear the table. One of us was still eating the french fries side dish that went with the steak when he took the cutlery right from under the nose of the guest. Again we got a peculiar look from the young waiter dressed in black. For the restaurant they were kind enough to order a taxi for us, but there wasn't any real communication. When addressing the waiter in white, which looked like the head of staff he was looking everywhere except at us. This doesn't show any form of interest towards the guests. A bit rude actually. This is a pity and a shame. Teach your staff some hospitality and kindness towards your guests. That would create greater reviews for your fine establishment. Food and atmosphere are great. Work on your hospitality amd you've got a golden recipe...

Have visited twice in the past five days for dinner.

Fantastic location. Probably difficult to beat in the area. Situated on the sea front and has its own free parking with attendant. It seems to be a popular place.

Visit one. Food delivery a little disjointed, but quality was good. Overall service not brilliant, but the experience and setting was good enough for us to book again.

Visit two. Table we had requested not available, but it was busy and appreciate diners stay longer so was prepared to overlook that. Order placed. Drinks arrived... although one was missing. About half hour later head waiter came to re-confirm order as there was some mix-up in kitchen. Starters arrived, one was wrong, but we kept it. Main courses then took a long time to arrive, two arriving first, the third about five minutes later and the final one a few minutes after that. Second round of drinks had been ordered and then reminded waiting staff three times until all were delivered, although still missing a bottle of water. Overall, food OK. Not the best and not what we were expecting.

Requested Bill. Extra bottle of water had been charged. Suggested to head waiter they may want to reduce it, and he took a round of drinks off... one of which we hadn't received in the first place.

To be fair to the head waiter, maybe he is the owner, was doing all he could to manage what was overall a pretty inept staff. He could be seen giving instructions, but I am not sure they will ever get the hang of "service" . Felt sorry for him.

Have been in the area for almost two weeks and eaten out each night. Based on tonight's visit, there are many other good restaurants which offer better service, good quality food and all round better value.

Have only ever left good reviews of places prior to this one, but have come away disappointed with...

Started out being shown to a table area by a grumpy waitress and we had to go get a sticky menu ourselves after 30 minutes. Finally, after signaling for 10 minutes, the waitress came over to our table only to inform us we were sitting at a table only for drinks. We were shown to a different table by the waitress where we were supposed to be able to order food, only to be informed by another waitress this table was also only for drinks, and that we had to go inside or on the other side of the restaurant area to order food. We then went inside and were told to take any seat we wanted. We prepared to sit down, only to be stink-eyed by another waitress before she yelled at us that we couldn't sit down without a reservation in this area, and that we had to go back to the other side of the restaurant to order and sit. We went back again and asked a waiter if we could sit anywhere to order our meal and were told to sit anywhere. We then sat down at a really unappetising dirty available table, menus in hand, and had to clear the table ourselves. After 5 minutes, a different waiter arrived and told us we had to move as the seats in this area was also reserved for another party. We finally left, still hungry, and got stink-eyed by the first waitress on our way out. I have never ever been treated with such disrespect at any establishment before, and would definitely not recommend this place to anyone.
