The Ship Hispaniola — Restaurant in Torrevieja

I had the absolute pleasure of visiting The Ship Hispaniola bar recently, and it's truly a hidden gem! From the moment you walk in, the atmosphere is incredibly welcoming, largely thanks to the two fantastic owners, Gary and Steve & Staff.

They've created a bar that feels like a home away from home – warm and friendly. Gary and Steve are genuinely lovely blokes, always up for a chat and making sure everyone feels looked after. Their passion for the place really shines through in every detail.

And let's talk about the cheesecake – oh my goodness! It's not an exaggeration to say it's outstanding. Seriously, if you're a cheesecake fan, you have to try it. It's perfectly creamy, wonderfully flavourful, and easily one of the best I've ever tasted. It's the kind of dessert you dream about long after you've finished it.

Whether you're looking for a relaxed drink, excellent food with good value for your money, a friendly chat, or a slice of the most incredible cheesecake, The Ship Hispaniola is the place to go. When Be Queen first opened we visited regularly,at least once or twice a week. Friendly, good value etc etc. Over the last month we have seen things vastly alter!!! The cost of the house wine has gone from 7.50 euros to 15 euros!! Advertised on Saturday, all day, is mussels and chips for 2.50 euros, it filled every seat......we went 3 weeks ago to be told "only mussels from the menu 12.50 euros were available" but still advertised on the window at 2.50!!!! The owner was curt and off hand with us......and as a local we felt she was only after the holiday tourists who would pay high prices!!! We shall not be visiting again, and I shall watch if they stay open once the summer is over!! The locals are needed in winter to keep a business open all year......watch...

Shockingly good hole in the wall. You wouldn't expect much from the location and look of this place. Embedded into a apartment complex for tourists but that was the best lamb shank I have ever eaten. Fall off the bone, super tender and full of flavour. The Friday special, fish and chips are pretty good too. Friendly family service and great prices. Cold drinks in...
