My partner and I visited Restaurante Yuso as it was highly recommended to us by our hosts in Valencia. It ended up being the most uncomfortable experience we have ever had at a restaurant. We arrived and waited at the door for a table. A man who appeared to be the manager/head waiter saw us, he walked past us several times and completely ignored us. This was when I realised that perhaps this was going to be a poor experience but as it came highly recommended we persevered. After standing around for 10 minutes my partner went inside to secure a table, this ended up being a big mistake. The manager stated that he only had tables inside (there were clearly empty tables outside) we agreed that this would be ok and he led us to the very back of the restaurant near the bathrooms. We soon realised that all the other tourists were also seated in this section, clearly on purpose. It was starting to become very obvious that tourists were not welcome at this establishment. The same rude waiter gave us the day and night menus despite us being there for dinner, both of which were in Spanish; this is not really an issue for us but previous reviews stated that an English menu was available, however we were not offered one. The food itself was fairly average, a lot of the tapas is fried and oily, we also asked for a hummus dish which was apparently not available. The sangria is also a pre-mix, so once again, pretty average. Also looking at some of the food served to the other patrons, the paella appeared quite oily and unappealing, and the hamburger looked inedible. We had already had so many amazing meals in Valencia with incredibly lovely staff, so we were very disappointed with the terrible service and average food. The manager seemed extremely arrogant, he barely acknowledged us even when we would thank him and overall the service was just really poor. Would not recommend at all, even if you are a local. We didn’t expect anyone to speak English to us, it’s not a big deal, we could have worked it out but it was obvious that we were not welcome and to be honest if they would prefer not to serve tourists then they should probably state that from the very beginning rather than making it such an uncomfortable experience for...
Read moreI will preface this by saying that although my review will be a little mixed, I would recommend trying Yuso as the food was delicious and it’s in a gorgeous little location.
I went for dinner and they turned a lot of people away as all the tables were reserved so I’d recommend booking ahead (although the tables were never all seated in the 2 hours I was there - strange!).
Then one negative for me was that a waiter gave my dish to the wrong table, a couple sitting right in front of me. They looked a little confused but started to eat it. I did think it was probably mine, but couldn’t be totally sure they hadn’t ordered it too. Another waiter came out a moment later, explained the mistake and apologised to them, and said if they wanted the dish they could have it for free, so they kept it. No one came to acknowledge the mistake or apologise to me though, despite the fact that it had been my dish and I then had to wait another 15-20mins for my food. I didn’t make a fuss about it as I’m not that sort of person but a simple acknowledgement would have been nice, especially when the couple got an apology and free food!
Apart from that mishap though, it was overall a lovely experience sitting in a gorgeous courtyard on a balmy night. My food (once I received it!) was absolutely delicious. The ingredients were super fresh and perfectly cooked, paired with a lovely Spanish...
Read moreThis restaurant was recommended to us by a local. We had a reservation for 20:30 but since on google it said that it opens at 20:00 we were there earlier (at 20:00). We asked if we can sit (since the tables were all ready and we had a reservation) and they told us it’s still closed. Two waiters came outside just chatting, and since we were waiting in the cold weather and was 20:13, we asked again if we could just sit, to not wait outside. One of the waiters told me that ‘It opens at 20:15’ and since I thought that it was very ridiculous I told him ‘In google it says that you open at 20:00, maybe you can change it’ and ironically he responded ‘Yes, we will change it just for you’. Then they let us in at 20:15 and made some rude comments. The food was really good. Paella was a bit salty but still nice. The other waiter serving us was really polite, kind and smiling. It was so sad that in the begging the waiter had this attitude and he was that ironic. If it was not Saturday night (busy) we...
