We were in Valencia in May 2021 on our Spain Tour. Walking around with no idea where to have lunch and to try the best dishes, we were a lil bit annoyed and very hungry. We sat in 3 different restaurants, but they all seemed to us to be some tourist traps. We kept walking through the tiny streets and saw the small cosy restaurant - nothing special from the outside. But once we tryed the food - Woww! First the foie gras creme brulee was out of this world! Than we tryed the Oktopus 🐙 , the salmon and the Cochinita Pibil - everything was so tasty, with fresh ingridients. We let ourselves to be guided by the hosts according to our preferences (fish, meat, vegg) For dessert they recommended us the Blue Chees Icecream, which is a must. ( with some orujo on the house - made our walk in the park great 😀 )

We followed a local recommendation for tapas and were not disappointed. The place was difficult to find, and it doesn’t open before 8:30 PM. Despite the restaurant’s simple setting, the food was absolutely delightful, and we indulged in a feast accompanied by the finest wine. A true hidden gem, it's off the beaten tourist track and not overcrowded, making it all the more enjoyable—an experience I highly recommend. To top it off, we were served a "Dark Misteln" for the twisted soul at the end… right up my alley 👻. It was kind of expensive for 4 people Euro 165.- but worth it. Service was very warm and we felt like home.

we ordered the food, the food was ok for the prices in general in valencia. (As I don't know much yet in Valência) if it was in Lisbon, 18 to 20 euros a dish would not be a good deal.

Then we felt some mosquitos bitting us and we used tee trea oil because of it. After a while the chef supposed owner comes with an aggressive talk like we where using tea tree oil to ruin the other guests experience. I tried to explain about the mosquitos but he does not listen, we kept our calm because talking like he was talking would just lead us to a men fight and I have more to do after a day of work.

After that I just got one little fly with my hand, just to prove him that there was was bugs flying inside the restaurant and went on the kitchen to show him in hope that he would be humble to realize he was rude and has no reason for that. No surprise he says this is fruit bugs, (as I would be hunting for the mosquitos that are a lot harder to see with few light and all). I just told him the other mosquitos enter from the same place as this one's etc.. He continues to say they don't and I Just give up the hope of educating this grown up stuburned egoic kid.

So summing up he as to go back to school to learn how to manage a restaurant, keep it clean, talk with clients and cook at the level he think he cooks... Because all was based on he ego that the tee tree oil was ruining the ability of other clients feeling is amazing cooking.

We never wanted to cause any problems. If he would just simply apologize and tell that he would solve the bugs situation we would apologize using the tee tree oil and the experience would be smooth.

So the picture is clear, a restaurant...

Update 30/09 The management of this restaurant wrote a reaction - in spanish, seems they may have a language problem - in a very aggressive way. Portraying me/us his Potential customer being an imbecil for Not knowing that dogs are Not allowed inside. And more type casts.

So once again dear Restaurant Manager - only to you. You are proud of your product and service. Rightful you are: as you are respected even by our respected friends. That we assumed by reviews that we were more Than welcome, that we were to be treated extensively in food and Manners.....

And then IMBECILE? ME? US?

You Lost track my friend.

So I have Changed the valuation from 1 to 10.. For rudness. Arrogance. Customer are your bread And Butter. Now you stumble over your own arrogance.

This restaurant was highly recommended to us And on top of our shortlist However: we came by taxi and a Long Journey to find Out the restaurant starts at 21 hours.

Also they dont have a terrace: And thats a Showstopper as we have a very tiny small dog that is not allowed inside. Too Pitty we were really looking forward to this.

BUT The whole area is Packed with similar restaurants. Similar quality. Valencia is well known for its restaurants We then settled for SHIRAZ. There WE left...

DO NOT EAT HERE

I have a severe gluten allergy, but I can tolerate small levels of contamination. This restaurant advertised a menu that flagged allergens, so I felt confident ordering a few dishes that were specifically marked as gluten-free.

When my food arrived, one of the dishes was clearly made with bread. This is entirely different from being made in the same environment - it was made with gluten. I asked the waiter if it was made with rice flour or chickpea flour, as the menu said it was gluten-free. He laughed at me and said, "No gluten, no gluten."

I told him that I had ordered the dish specifically because it was labeled as gluten-free, but he just laughed again and walked away. I left the dish on the table and told him I couldn't eat it.

A few minutes later, the waiter's coworker came over and offered to give me something gluten-free as a replacement. However, she then told me that one of the dishes I had already eaten, which was also labeled as gluten-free, actually had gluten in it.

She then offered me a gluten-free dish that is usually for sharing, but she said she would give me a half portion for half the price. I agreed, but when I got the bill, I was charged full price for the dish.

They charged me for the original dish I couldn't eat and the replacement dish at full rpice. When I asked the waiter about the discrepancy, he laughed at me again.

I was furious. I told him that I was only willing to pay for the bread dish that I didn't eat, if my husband could take it away. He just laughed again and said, "No."

I left the restaurant feeling angry, humiliated, and unsafe. I will never eat there again.

DO NOT EAT HERE ~ NO COMAS AQUI

No volveré a comer allí...
