Inside the larger hotel the restaurant brings valencia cuisine to Japan. An attempt of fusion cooking which works sometimes.
Location is nice there is plenty of seating. An open kitchen concept that works. Staf are nice, friendly and responsive. My waitress did a superb job of covering some weaknesses of the sommelier
The food is nice and fresh. The Valencia meets Japan concept does not always work.
Example rabo of Wagyu and gambas. The shrimp is served raw and all that remains is a little texture bur no flavor of the shrimp 🦐. Enjoyed the dish but needs mire work. The white truffle dishes are nice. Make them seasonal and use fresh truffle instead of the paste..
Loved the scallop with foie and little Norwegian lobsters. Very eloquent and tasty.
The toro tuna tartare was yummie. Add a spoon of kaviar ❤️.
The quality of the unagi was fabulous. Delicious 😋.
Excellent team in the kitchen and front of the house.
And yes the have excellent glassware. Zalto ❤️
A big weakness is the curating of the wine list. Many wines have no vintages. Are grouped in uneventful ways. Few pairing options. The sommelier can do a much better job! Where is coravin? Woild open up so many options. Wine prices are fair ❤️☀️
All in all a nice place. The concept works in some occasions or other it does not shine. Was an enjoyable evening. Be aware of the weaknesses and go for upper casual almost fine dining experience you will have a great time. I did 😋. Thank you again Hocho...
Read moreI had the pleasure of dining last weekend and it exceeded all expectations. From the moment we stepped inside, the open-kitchen concept caught my eye, with a stunning Japanese-style bar that makes the cooking itself part of the experience. The sleek, high-quality materials and elegant textures gave the space a refined yet cozy ambiance.
🍣 Food: Every dish was beautifully presented and bursting with flavor. The sushi and sashimi were incredibly fresh, each piece a testament to the chef’s craftsmanship. The ramen was rich and comforting, balanced with subtle, finely-tuned seasoning. 🥂 Atmosphere: The minimalist décor is complemented by dim, warm lighting, creating a perfect setting for an intimate dinner or a special night out. Watching the chefs work at the bar adds a dynamic, theatrical flair to the meal. 👩🍳 Service: The staff were attentive, polite, and clearly passionate about the cuisine, they gladly explained each dish and made personal recommendations, enhancing the overall dining experience. 💰 Value: Prices reflect the quality and care behind each dish, but it still felt fair for what you receive: exceptional food, atmosphere, and service. A fantastic experience for a special occasion or a...
Read moreHocho holds a special place in my heart, and every visit there with my partner is always a memorable experience. The food quality is exceptional, consistently cooked to perfection, and the service is typically flawless.
During our most recent visit, we encountered a slight hiccup, likely due to the restaurant being a bit understaffed. The sommelier, who usually provides impeccable service, apologized for his lack of attention when we wanted to order wine, explaining the situation. Despite this minor issue, our overall experience was still delightful.
A wonderful young waiter, whose name I unfortunately didn't catch, made our evening special. He had curly hair and spoke Catalan fluently. His dedication and attentiveness were commendable, and he ensured we had a great time. I hope the Hocho team recognizes him for his exceptional service, as he truly deserves a mention.
Overall, Hocho continues to impress us with its high-quality cuisine and warm atmosphere. We look forward to many more enjoyable visits.
Also, special mention to the sake cremaet,...
