Tasca y Brasa — Restaurant in Valencia

They will be openly rude to you if you are a tourist, even if you speak Spanish. Two stars because the food was fine.

We went here twice because of location and convenience. We also thought that maybe the rude treatment was due to an off night. But it appears to be a feature, not a bug.

For example, when I asked what white wines they had, the waiter said "verdejo". So I said, "solo verdejo?", and he said "si". So I ordered a bottle, and he brought me a bottle of french Sauvignon blanc sur lie (see photo).

We returned the next day for lunch and the waitress was short with me and rolled her eyes when I asked for a menu. She then told me they were out of croquetas so I asked about sandwiches. She said we don't have sandwiches, even though sandwiches were basically the only thing on the lunch menu. It was very annoying for her that we were there. So we left and went around the corner to mercabana which was awesome. It's a food court with a variety of things to make everyone happy and literally everyone I interacted with there was lovely and friendly.

The food at tasca y brasa was fine, but honestly no better from the multiple other restaurants within walking distance. They just hate tourists here, which is strange because they are a restaurant located next to a touristy beach and depend on tourist revenue. But according to the grumpy waitress, they are fully booked every day so I suppose they just don't care.

The food was not that tasty but expensive, The menu was not user friendly, I didn't understand anything and had to order randomly, plus I didn't enjoy anything other than my drink. Service is awful, they probably don't like tourists, anyhow I waited a long time for them to approach, and then the guy just through the bill didn't even bother to ask how I wanted to pay, cash or card. I guess he didn't even care if I'm gonna pay or not. I had to go to the counter and ask again for payment. And I told him that "you just gave me the bill, do you want me to pay?" Terrible!!! Service was awful, unfriendly and slow. They were out of chicken, so I had to get the rabbit. It was so dry and tasteless. I asked for hot sauce&ketchup, to give it some spunk. It took them 10 min.to bring me that. They never came back to me to ask me how everything was, yet I heard them go to other tables, to ask.
