I am very fortunate to eat here for 2 days in a row. I arrived the day before the lock down since I haven't been able to go round the town little did I know most local restaurants do not accept table for one. Having been turn away by several restaurants at La Rambla I am super grateful and happy to find La Malaxica. When you were hungry not able to speak in Spanish and no restaurants wanted to feed you just because I was alone and not worth their time it was so low morally. Anyway the food from the Chef's cooking was spot on on both occasions, great consistency and delicious. Service staffs from yesterday and today were both courteous and super friendly and helpful. To me this is the perfect go-to smart-casual restaurant in Vilanova and I've taken family, friends and colleagues here many times. One great advantage is that it opens quite early in the daytime and closes quite late in the evening, without an afternoon break. And the food is the same consistent standard whatever time you visit.

The menu and wine list are varied and interesting, with a menu del dia and evening and weekend menu, as well as an extensive a la carte menu. Service is attentive without being overbearing.

There's plenty of air-conditioned seating inside and several tables with umbrellas outside.

I highly recommend this restaurant...

Que desilusión tan grande! La primera vez fue buena experiencia y las DOS SIGUIENTES terriblemente malas. Lamentablemente la tercera había llevado una invitada, que comió SOLA porque éramos 3 y le trajeron lo suyo y lo demás tuve que quejarme diciendo que habíamos ido a cenar en familia y no queríamos mirarnos mientras comíamos a destiempo. Nos trajeron un secreto de cerdo partido en trocitos que no hacía ni medio, sin la verdura, con unos 5 cubos de patatas que daban pena, cuando conocíamos el plato de veces anteriores y no era así. Era un secreto entero sobre cama de verduras. Argumentaron desde cocina que "se les habían terminado las verduras" por eso nos trajeron unas patatas tristes que no pedimos y unos trozos pobres de secreto de cerdo. Comió SOLA mi invitada y nosotros mal, frío y algo que NO PEDIMOS. Se les había terminado casi todo, pero eso se avisa al pedir el plato señores!! Una desilusión. Aunque nuestro disgusto fue evidente no nos invitaron ni a un chupito, cobraron su cuenta como un plato bien servido y buena atención, y no lo fue. Fue una vergüenza de cena. No volveré nunca y por supuesto no seguiré recomendandolo. Lo menos que puede hacer un lugar con unos clientes, es disculparse y hacer un descuento o invitación apropiada. Me arruinaron la noche, y lo expresé, expresé mi disgusto, comer sola, comer un plato que era la mitad o menos de lo que suele ser, todo cortado como para niños y costados quemados. Imperdonable la Malaxica! Muy defraudada. No están preparados para recibir mucha gente, se les terminan demasiado rápido las patatas, los pimientos, etc. Mala previsión y mala coordinación y...
