El Bancalet — Restaurant in Xàbia / Jávea

Very dirty, bad food, slowest service imaginable. It took a very long time for the server to come to our table when we sat down, and even longer afterwards. The food took about 45 minutes (One salad, two sandwiches and an egg dish). The glass the server brought was absolutely disgusting (like greasy fingerprints, lip marks). The leftovers on the table next to us were left to rot in the sun for about an hour, the server did not even bother to *think about cleaning anything. The salad I ordered was a joke, I did not even touch it because I was already disgusted with the place and it was not a salad: About 10 pieces of pre-packaged lettuce, 2 hardboiled eggs, raw onions with unidentified marks on them (the cook must have touched it with dirty fingers from another dish), 6 slices of tomatoes - not even mixed but laid out next to each other. The cherry on top was that the bread and the shrimp dish we ordered never came, but of course were on the bill. I have absolutely no idea how this place got such good reviews, which was what fooled us...

Una experiencia desagradable en prácticamente todos los sentidos. Primero en el sentido puramente gastronómico, pedimos unas raciones para picar y se quedaron prácticamente enteras, patatas de bolsa, croquetas de bolsa sin ningún sabor, escombros (calamares y chopitos) que estaban tan fritos que al pincharlos con un tenedor se deshacían, hasta el punto que incluso me planteo que pudieran estar ya fritos y haberse vuelto a echar a la freidora para calentarlos y servirlos... En fin, muy decepcionante. Y para culminar el comer con un animal muerto al lado durante todo el servicio ya redondea la experiencia, y escuchar al personal con los habituales bromear sobre como la iban a echar para el puchero del día siguiente (porque quiero entender que era una broma por desagradable que fuese y con gente comiendo allí) pues eso... Lo único reseñable la persona que nos atendió en mesa al principio que fue educada...

Nice range of breakfast choices. The desayuno Ingles was good value and pretty tasty. Good coffee. Great for watching the passers by especially on Market day ( Thursday). Wheelchair accessible. Fast service out of season and not on Thursdays. Parking in nearby underground carpark under...
