Restaurante Tratoria Portofino — Restaurant in Yaiza

This restaurant is inside the Gran Tagoro hotel. It is Italian-based food, and if you are intending to go there, you need to book in advance. The food itself is nice, nothing special to be honest. The best part was the local Lanzarote wine that was pleasant surprise. We went there for 3 meals. The first one was really good, we had the fish of the day, which was delicious, and pizza for the children. The service was excellent. However, the second time was a 180 degrees experience - the food was overcooked, took a long time to come. Service was horrible - we got to order the drinks, the next time we saw a waiter was when the food came, and then they disappeared. We had already finished eating for 20 minutes, and the dirty plates were on the table. We went to the dessert bar, got some desserts, came to the table, dirty dishes still there. We had to scrape the dishes and pile them in order to make place for the dessert plates. We complained, and the hotel got a 3rd reservation for the restaurant to make amends. Starters and desserts were buffet like the main restaurant. Albeit they did have minestrone soup , which was the best part of dinner-tbf it was damn good

Had steak special, was sirloin, which i like but cut of meat was not a good standard- too many inedible bits to it . Stone baked margarita pizza was cooked fresh, but flavouring was too herby, overpowered the whole thing meaning the crust was the best bit.

Pannecotta had a bit plastic in it- which luckily I didn't swallow

Staff were lovely , but took over too long to serve food, bare in mind restaurant wasn't that busy and all order were either steak pasta or pizza-none of which have a long cook time.

Very average. The food is of an identical standard to the all-you-can-eat buffet. (In fact all the starters and desserts are identical to those at the buffet) the mains are not of a high standard but are different from the rest of the food on site. Service is frankly dreadful. Main courses delivered when we were still eating starters, plates not cleared away before the next course arrived, drinks not topped up. In fact once your order is placed you're pretty much ignored. You'd be disappointed with this restaurant if it wasn't already included in...
