Tavern By The Sea — Restaurant in Yaiza

We went without reservation. Restaurant caters for a TUI holiday complex behind it. We were all inclusive nearby at another hotel but wanted an a la carte quality meal for a Birthday celebration. The service and food were very good. We were quickly served but not rushed. We accidentally knocked the fresh bread off the table whilst being served and it was quickly replaced kindly. We only paid for 2 adults having expecting to pay for our child as well as she was classed as free to our surprise. Our child really enjoyed the Chips with her meal and more fussy about the fish she had picked. The Manager was happy to give her extra chips. Adults were given a free glass of Champagne, we didn’t expect. Wine was lovely and Cold Draught Beer Very good. The tables are high quality. The tables were laid beautifully. We dined here as part of our Al La carte inclusion for TUI Blue Flamingo Beach hotel. Lovely spot right on the beachfront. Greeted with a glass of champagne by a friendly waiter, who gave us the ideal table for two and our baby (the view was fantastic at sunset). Started with an extensive range of tapas ranging from Garlic and Chilli prawns to cured meats, all which were rather tasty and presented wonderfully. For the main I had the grilled sirloin steak, I did ask for medium rare but was definitely on the medium well side, but the cut was quite thin and still tasted tender. It was served with an assortment of sides and sauces which were all nice. Dessert selection was limited, but not sure if this was due to the Al La carte menu. All three desserts were served to the table for us to try and they were good. Service was really good, staff were extremely friendly and went the extra mile. My wife and I ate here for an evening dinner. We were just looking to have a simple burger and chips which was on their outdoor menu list. Ordered drinks, cava sangria which arrived promptly along with the food menu. Alarm bells rang when we saw the menu which was the exact same menu as the Green and Grill restaurant next door. We had eaten there a few days earlier and had had a very undesirable culinary experience. When we said we were wanting a burger the waiter brought a different menu. Food arrived promptly albeit almost thrown in front of us by a miserable waiter. Processed beef burger, burnt bacon and processed slice of cheese with limp lettuce.
