We are just coming to the end of our one week all inclusive stay at Sandos Atlantic Gardens. We are a couple in our thirties. It's been a lovely stay. The rooms are basic but you get a lot of space - little living room with sofa, table and chairs, and a fridge (under counter size). Bathroom is ample with walk in shower, and they provide lots of products, including toothbrushes and shaving kits. The beds are comfy and bedding suitable - you get two thin sheets as covers, and there are blankets too. There is a wardrobe with safe (presume you get a key from reception, but we didn't feel the need to use the safe). Air con worked really well and was easy enough to set. Just make sure you can see the icicle symbol, otherwise it's just on a fan! You also get a little patio area out the front of your bungalow with seating, and at the back you have a private enclosed area with a tap and clothes drying facilities, which was really handy for drying swimwear (P.s. the hotel don't provide nor hire out towels for use on the sunbeds or at the beach, but almost all the local shops sell them). The rooms are cleaned every day, bedding and towels replaced, etc. And if they see that you drink a lot of tea and coffee they give you plenty more!
The food and drinks are good. Not the most amazing food either of us has ever had for all inclusive, but we could always find something we liked, and there was plenty of choice. Always lots of different fish and meat choices, including things like chicken and lamb, but also tuna, shark, etc, and lots of veg, salad, and pasta. The waiting staff bring wine if you want it, and the sangria is nice. There was always somewhere to sit and no big queues for the food. The food service times for breakfast, lunch, and dinner were good, and they have snack times in between too where you can order burgers etc (included in all inclusive). In terms of drinks, it's mostly self serve tea and coffee and soft drinks, and then bar service for alcohol. Local spirits etc for all inclusive. The one thing that bugged me slightly is that there is no decent ice cream. There are little catering type pots in the freezer but they're not amazing. They don't even sell them at the bar, which would seem to be a no brainer, and there's no on site shop. We walked down to Flamingo beach for some anyway.
The pool area is good, the pool itself is really well maintained and clean. Really peaceful. We are here in late June to early July and there is always a sunbed. Only negative I'd say is that they should probably start replacing the older sunbeds, as they are uncomfortable and many are a bit broken. Lots of palm trees surrounding the area and a few birds around.
Activities were really well thought through. My partner did target shooting and we both did a cooking class where we made canarian potatoes with the activities manager, Costi. It was really nice, especially since they grow many of the ingredients on site. Ps. bring a few euro in change for bingo and the quiz.
The gym is OK. Some mats, a bench and bar, a few plates, dumbells, and kettle bells, elliptical machine and bike. Not much variety in terms of the weights, but probably what you'd expect. Air con was difficult to get going, so it's a good job it's on level -1, so a bit cooler.
You can get to the beach Playa Flamingo really quickly, and it's a mostly flat walk. You just head to the seafront path out the back of the hotel, turn left, and keep walking (~5 mins). There are a handful of restaurants and a supermarket. If you keep going you would then get to Playa Blanca, where there are a fair few more bars, shops, etc. We hired a car for a day from Cicar at Playa Blanca. It was super easy and really good value.
Overall, Santos Atlantic Gardens is a really clean and comfortable place, and the staff work super hard. We had a relaxing break. Would recommend,...
Read moreThis was our 5th visit to Atlantic Gardens over the last 7 years. During our visit from the 6th - 20th June 3025 we noticed a huge difference in the overall standard, upkeep and atmosphere of Sandos Atlantic Gardens. ||• Positives ||Some of the staff: Michael (pronounced Mickle), Rickardo, Diego and Adriana really go that extra mile, work very hard and are extremely friendly which for us really made our stay much more enjoyable. ||• Negatives: ||If you’re considering paying the extra €16-18 per night for a sea view bungalow I.e: room 421 this also comes with a view of a noisy motorhome and camper van site right opposite your front door. (Save your cash). ||Accommodation smelt of urine in the bathroom and needs some major renovation as is beginning to look really tired and shabby. The bathroom resembles something similar to the school showers in England in the 1970’s & 80’s. ||The overall pool area and sunbathing area isn’t very clean and again look dated and tired and in need of major refurbishment, in particular the pool which now has a horrible yellow tide mark all the way around it. Also, the integrated whirlpool was cordoned off and out of order during our entire 2 weeks stay. If you’re lucky enough to get a Sun bed during your stay it feels like you’re on top of each other as there’s limited space. As for reserving Sun beds at silly o’clock in the morning, the guests of Atlantic Gardens have a masters in this!! On our departure day we headed for our transfer to the airport at 6:45am there were at least 8 beds already reserved with more people arriving to do the same. The most frustrating thing about this is many of the guests who’d done this were nowhere to been seen for half the day. Then they’d return mid afternoon grab their towels from the sun beds and wonder off. This needs to be seriously addressed.||Atlantic Gardens seems to be positioning itself as an offering holistic therapies and massage etc. Frank who provides these services is a lovely guy, but sadly had gone on holiday during our stay. These services along with the animation itinerary were extremely limited, and the animation coordinator wasn’t very interactive compared with previous stays. ||The bar area doesn’t have enough seating to accommodate all of the guests at Atlantic Gardens if the complex is full to capacity. Most evenings we struggled to get a seat inside the bar so had no other choice but to sit outside, this is absolutely fine if the weather isn’t to windy, but be mindful not to sit too close to the smoking wall end of the terrace. ||Food is plentiful at meal times, but often very repetitive and can be a very odd mix of cuisines. We found the lunchtime food options much better than the evening dinner service. Again, cleanliness was an issue with the outdoor dining tables which were often stained and dirty. We did eat outside of the complex on many occasions as there was a notable difference in the standard of the food on our most recent visit compared with previous stays.||To summarise: If you are looking for a mid priced 3 star all inclusive break with a clientele that resembles something you’d expect to find in Benidorm with judgemental, racist and homophonic British guests who like to drink all day and night, then Atlantic Gardens is most definitely the idea accommodation for you.||A note to Sandis: I would suggest closing Atlantic Gardens down for a full and much needed renovation as with some TLC it could easily shake this current budget image and achieve a 4 star rating...
Read moreThis is our first abroad trip since the pandemic. We were very excited as the photographs looked amazing. We had been to Playa Blanca before and enjoyed area so we were looking forward to exploring the other side of the town. |We were greeted by a very friendly gentleman at reception who asked us to leave our luggage and go and have some lunch, rooms would be available from 1430. |The variety of food available was extensive. Cold meats, cheeses, salads, salad, 6 different hot meals, pizza, chips and 3 hot meats carved for you. An amazing platter of deserts and pastries and a selection of breads that would revile most bakeries. The food was hot, the dining room was clean and the staff were attentive, without being pushy. We immediately felt at home and couldn't wait to see our room.|Our room was a bungalow, main sitting area with tv, sofa, coffee table, small dining table and chairs, and a fridge. The bedroom had a superking size bed, double wardrobe with hangers, a safe and mirrored doors, 2 side tables and a dressing shelf. The bathroom was a good size, the shower was hot and spacious, the toilet worked as did the basin. As I wasn't expecting to be spending hours in the bathroom, the fact that the cabinet under the basin was a little old and peeling didn't bother me at all. The was an outside area that was walled and not overlooked. The bungalow was clean and pleasantly decorated. The bed was super comfy and I've taken a photo of the label to try and source one for home!!|The pool area housed an infinity pool, a small pool, jacuzzi and a whirlpool. There were plenty of sunbeds with and without umbrellas which was good to know as I didn't fancy having to get up at 0700 to play towel wars!!|As we were all inclusive we had access to food and drinks from 0800-2300. The snack menu in the day was limited but if you ate at mealtimes that wouldn't concern you. The meals offered had a wide variety of choose at all times. Cooked to a high standard and very tasty, I tried several types of fish that usually I wouldn't entertain. The dining area was clean and the staff were top notch.|It was our wedding anniversary while we were away and the reception staff assisted in arranging flowers in the room and a complimentary bottle of fizz and some chocolates. When the time for leaving came we were very grateful to the reception staff as our travel company's bus drove straight past on the main road and didn't stop!!! He contacted the local office and spoke to someone and explained what we need to do. Booked us a taxi and we were off.|This has been a truly needed break, as an adults only complex the peace and quiet is a welcome relief. I have already looked to book again for next year and will definitely be recommending to friends. |To balance the review out there are a few points to consider... yes there are some areas that look a bit tired and could do with a refresh, the pool area and bar are dated and the tables could do with leveling on the patio. But the complex was clean, the staff were attentive and friendly. Yes the food could have been slightly better but I defy anyone to cater for a large amount of people for several hours at a time and it be perfect every time. This is a 3* complex and is at the top end of that, for the price we paid it was exceptional value. |Thank you to all staff front of house and behind the scenes, you have made us very welcome and we will definitely...
