This is our last day of a 7 day break in Lanzarote. I tend to avoid beachfront restaurants as I feel you pay for the view more than the food- however I stand corrected. Without doubt this is the best lunch we've had the whole time we've been here ( and that includes the caves). We are real foodies and these dishes were a highlight: Cold seafood cocktail with roasted avocado cream Garlic Prawn Salad - a sight for the eyes and taste buds, despite the dreary name ( hopefully I can upload in photos below) Hot large Canarian assortment pot of seafood ( make sure you ask for bread as you won't let those flavours leave the table unmopped up!) I had an Irish coffee then dived into some local deserts: Canary Island Polvito - so this is like a very light trifle with lychee and meringue flavours, Canary Island Biemisabe - I feel bad giving the ingredients as the taste explosion was better than the description - it's an almond and egg custard with ice-cream: like a fig roll pudding mixed with summer vibes. Service is typically slow but waiting staff not too pissed off at you going up to them to remind them you're still waiting for food or drink orders. In fairness, service is 20% better than we've experienced across the whole island, (which is generally poor to the point of negligence!)..and the decor - bathrooms are a real hit. So in summary; amazing view, great food, lovely decor and marginally better attentiveness when eating here! An all round winner in Lanzarote, and an easy 5 star...
Read moreChose to stop here after a long day at the nearby water park as the views were beautiful. Upon arriving we were essentially ignored for 5 minutes before someone acknowledged us. It took a good 30 minutes for someone to come and take our order and then.......nothing. Another 30 minutes later 2 of the 6 drinks we ordered arrived with the waitress asking why the rest of the party hadn't ordered!!!! We advised that we had and reminded her what the order was. Another 15 minutes and they finally arrived but one of the children's smoothies was completely wrong (we ordered the strawberry split and one Berry passion). The waitress insisted that the correct one was the strawberry split despite us double checking because of the colour, which she said was the normal colour for that drink. Another 10 minutes and the last smoothie arrived......which was the strawberry split, causing tears for our little one because she'd had enough by that point. Initially we were going to order food but decided against it and moved on to a much more welcoming restaurant with 5-star service called Utopia. They were quick to give us the bill when requested but only took payment when we got fed up and stood up to leave. Overall, I do not recommend this place, the only positive is the beautiful view. We felt ignored and like they didn't really care about their customers, if I could give zero...
Read moreCasa Joaquin is in such a beautiful location looking out across Flamingo Beach, and we received a really warm and friendly welcome from the team. We didn’t have a reservation, but a table for myself, my daughter and three grandchildren was very quickly arranged and within five minutes of stepping into the restaurant we were seated with menus. They do a very reasonable and good children menu, which the two youngest opted for, whilst my daughter and I had the steak with three peppercorn sauce, and our eldest granddaughter had the penne pasta bolognaise. All the meals arrived together and there was only a very short wait from order to serving. Every plate was cooked to perfection. The steak had a really good serving of peppercorn sauce, that came in a separate dish and there was ample for the steak and the accompaniments, and it just melted in the mouth. The team were lovely with the children, particularly with the youngest, Arthur who is just 5 years old, and couldn’t do enough to ensure we were happy. It’s our first time eating here, but it definitely won’t be our last. A very enjoyable evening, and at a very good price, just a little over €100 which included a spiced rum, gin and the obligatory...
