We visited the restaurant on a Sunday as a group of eight. At the time, there were only three tables occupied, each with just two guests, so the restaurant was far from busy. Despite this, the service we received was extremely disappointing.

After placing our order, it took 45 minutes for the first dish,a chicken masala dosa to arrive. Although we had ordered three, only one was served initially, and we had to wait an additional 10 minutes for the other two. The waitress also took three separate trips just to bring us plates, which we had to specifically request.

Along with the dosas, we had also ordered one chicken biryani, one mutton biryani, one mixed rice, and a nasi goreng. While most of the dishes were eventually served, after considerable delays,my husband had to wait over an hour for his nasi goreng. Despite repeated inquiries, it was only after 1 hour and 15 minutes that we received any response. Ultimately, my uncle had to go into the kitchen and ask the chef directly, who informed us the dish had been ready for some time but hadn’t been served.

Throughout all of this, the waitress assigned to our table seemed overwhelmed and inattentive. She was visibly rushing around the restaurant and failed to acknowledge us or provide timely updates. Most disappointing of all, not once did she apologize for the poor service or the multiple errors.

The food itself was average at best and certainly did not make up for the frustrating experience. Based on our visit, I would not recommend this...

Based on my multiple visits to Devon Restaurant, I cannot recommend it as a dining destination. One of the main issues I encountered was the quality of their fried rice, which was consistently wet and over-sauced with chicken and chopsy liquid. The combination of excessive sauce and liquid made the fried rice more like a mushy and unappetizing dish, making it difficult to enjoy the meal.

Furthermore, my experience at Devon Restaurant was tainted by witnessing how they treated their employees. The way they differentiated between upper and lower-level employees was unacceptable and left a negative impression on me. Such practices reflect poorly on the restaurant's values and management.

During one visit, I ordered 10 ice creams but later decided to cancel 5 of them. However, the staff refused to comply with my request. This lack of flexibility and unwillingness to accommodate a simple request further added to the dissatisfaction with the restaurant's service.

Overall, Devon Restaurant is not a good place to eat due to both the subpar food quality and the questionable treatment of its employees. It appears to prioritize profit over human values, which is disappointing and leaves a negative impression on customers. I would advise seeking other dining options that prioritize both quality food and respectful treatment of employees for a more pleasant and...

We visited Devon restaurant at about 9.30 a.m on a Sunday to grab some breakfast and we had to go through a very unpleasant experience and apparently a scam. We ordered rice and curry breakfast by talking to a lady at the counter and she explained us you'll get 3 curries plus either chicken, Fish or egg and asked our preferences. We told her our preferences on curries and we prefer chicken as well. Once we tried to pay the lady at the cash register, she seems to be clueless with the POS machine and said us twice that the machine is not working. It took about 20 minutes and we were not served until we paid. However, once she figured out how to use the machine lol! the bill came out as attached. We didn't order chicken curry and we only served with two tiny pieces and when we ask why it says chicken curry they were refusing to change it and were very rude to us in our point of view. The amount is small and it's peanuts to me but the behavior and customer service is disgusting. The food wasn't tasty and the portion was lesser than to a restaurant offers in Sri Lanka. The condition of the place is also in a bad shape than it used to be 10-15 years ago. Really disgusting and if you're travelling to Kandy and wish to dine in due to the reputation Devon had in the past days, it's gone now. Owners must take action and train their employees on how to treat...

What if you reached Kandy town early in the morning and looking for a decent place to have a cup of coffee ☕️ maybe breakfast 🍳 and get some work done or emails sent 😇 The Devon Restaurant at 1st floor of this building is already open by 7am 🌞. I absolutely love this place ❤️🤩 since it has the vibe and sounds of a traditional coffee house. The sounds from the kitchen, the head chef barking orders to the helpers and the smell of fresh baked buns and bread 🥖🍞 all mixed together forming this unique background noise that I love to work in the morning. Most of of all what I love the most are their staff, ❤️🥰 who have been working there for ages, some who already know your regular order and tell you “sir, is it a Milk coffee?” ☕️😄 Great place to experience an old school style coffee house in the morning and get some work settled before starting the day. Not many places are open in Kandy at this time. And what wins it all is that you get a hot cup of milk coffee and all of the above for only for Rs. 75/= I’m not kidding! I have the bill. 🤩🤩🤩(might have increased now but I don’t think it’ll ever hit the price of Starbucks 😇🙏) So happy to find these traditional old-school places thriving. 🥰
