To start off, I am Asian American. And this restaruant was my first time experiencing RACISM while traveling Europe. I have traveled to Italy, Slovenia, Croatia, Norway, and Finland.
The tables were entirely empty since I came here exactly at 5, and the waitress told me all the tables were fully booked. When I asked how long it would take us to get a table, she told us it would take an hour. So, instead of waiting, she proposed to dine in this stairwell area. Since we were hungry, we just accepted it. Not even a table, but she gave us a bench where they used to put random supplies—faraway from where other people would dine in. After an hour, we finished our food, and most of the tables were still empty.
I am from California, and I have experienced racism before but never in this way. In a very civil manner, I confronted the waitress, and she told me that we misunderstood.
For the record, the conversation went: Me: I don’t understand why we could not get a table seat when there are so many tables opened. You told us to wait an hour to get a table, and it has passed an hour, and more than half of the tables are still empty. W: No, I told that the tables are reserved, and customers will arrive in an hour. (This was not what she told us.) Me: You told us to wait an hour for a table. W: Then, I misunderstood your question. Me: Oh, okay.
And for goodness sake, she was shaking as if she never expected us to ask questions regarding the service. At this point, I was just done with the bs and left. She never apologized. ❗️Honestly, it is very ironic, how an Asian restaurant is racist towards Asian people. Profiting from Asian culture yet never truly embracing its people.❗️This was my first encounter of racism in Europe, so well done! Never expected to experience it in a Korean restaurant 😂. My mother was so disappointed, she asked me to write a review so that other Asian people who visit Visby will not ruin their trip. Here is my first Google Review 👍.
Regarding food: The food did NOT even taste close to a Korean food. More like they just put Korean names on dishes that’s hardly close to Korean. Using an aluminum can to serve side dishes for style, but honestly, it is not a great idea. Kimchi is probably one of the worst kimchi I ever had, and I was quite shocked by Bibimbap… I expected so much from the reviews, and Bibimbap is not Bibimbap. More like chicken poke served with kimchi… Bibimbap requires at least some sort of namul, but this one lacks any aspect of a Korean dish. After traveling Europe for a month, I desired a taste of a Korean food, and it massively failed. Also, what translated to a cucumber salad, do not expect 오이국수. With thick noodles and room temperature peanut sauce, it tasted more like a Thai dish… This place serves more of an Asian fusion food (into whatsoever European style), so for future customers,...
Read moreI normally don't put out negative reviews but in this case it's warranted. Our server was filling in and was very nice guiding us through vegan choices. There was a particular dish he warned about because it was so hot he said our mouths would have been numbed from the first bite. It was curious to find many restaurants had dishes that are heavily spiced for heat by default which is very strange. We ordered the Bao Buns of which there were supposed to be two but only one came. The dumplings were only three to the order and a tofu dish was not much to speak of. What got us was the high price we paid compared to what we received. That's all I have to say but obviously the vast majority of their customers are not vegan and looking around the restaurant while we were there, they were getting what...
Read moreThe holy grail of gentrification.
Had the ramen, a couple of drinks, creme brulee and the chocolate truffle.
The main food (ramen) tastes like a nothing burger with hints of spice. It was genuinely disappointing. No real Asian taste at all.
The drinks were good and obviously a little expensive since that's just Sweden.
The dirty fries? 90% garnish and chillies.
The chocolate truffle was a sad sight.
Won't be recommending this place to anyone.
Sidenote: staff was friendly and kind but the food was...
