Mat & Destillat — Restaurant in Lund Municipality

Review is a bit late, but better late than never. We were incredibly pleased with our visit, so I thought I'd share.

My girlfriend and I went here with our friend for his 30th birthday in late August. We brought our 6-month old son too. I emailed in advance to let them know that we'd bring a baby, and also to let them know some dietary requirements that I have - they for whatever reason didn't get the email, but our waiter was super accommodating even if he had to solve some stuff on the spot. He also went a bit out of his way to provide some entertainment for our son. Kudos to that guy!

The food was also definitely great. We went for the tasting menu, because it looked interesting and we wanted to do something slightly fancier. I had been here a few years prior and hadn't thought the food was quite good value, but in spite of the bill coming in at 1000 SEK per person (including some wine, beer, and a cocktail), I couldn't help but feel completely satisfied and content this time around. They had really stepped up their game compared to my previous visit, and are now up there with the restaurant at Skissernas, which was my favorite place in Lund since before.

I often have at least some criticism of the food when I go out, especially at this price point, but this time I could not really find anything to critique. Well balanced, interesting, delicious dishes of a good size - I was definitely not hungry after leaving (in spite of not filling up on bread) but also not too full. The cocktail was also (as usual) creative and tasty.

Excellent dinner and a wonderful finish to our visit in Lund. The service and personal touches are really wonderful.

As others have mentioned they put their own "twist" on drinks/coctails and their version of a dirty martini (Absolut Vodka) may be one of the very best I have had. Some lemon peel and nice hint of citrus in the flavour, made for a really great opener to the meal.

The bread that is served is very fresh, with a nice variety but the butter with chives really made this special.

I had the Pluma iberico (pork), perfectly cooked and the flavours were wonderful. My wife had the duck, which was very good, however she would have had more well done. (I thought it was great but as a suggestion if you prefer a little more well done, I would imagine they could accommodate that request).

Dessert really was the highlight to the evening with the Creme Brule being finished at your seat, we later noticed this wonderfully sweet smell in the air as others had the same. 21 year old Glenfiddich Gran Reserva Scotch just rounded out the evening nicely.

It is not inexpensive here but I do believe you get good value in the quality and the service your receive, right from arrival to the time...

Very nice place with delicious food. The crispy duck and reindeer beef were sublime. They always have seasonal ingredients so everything is fresh, and they always bring their flavors to another level. Don't forget to try the gin tonic! It's the best in the world! If you don't like gin, they have different cocktails with seasonal fruits as well. I tried the rhubarb cocktail and it was amazing. The waiters are always available and they know how to guide you in your choice. Prices are quite affordable, for 350kr you have a complete meal with a nice glass of wine. In summary, the best...
