Tried the mixed menu for two people. We got the chicken and minced beef as meat options and the chickpeas and spinach as veggie options. The food was delicious, the injera most of all, and the quantity was more than sufficient (though we did manage to eat everything). There are some interesting drinks options as well, including African beers, wines and juices. The interior is modern, but with some African decorations, which I find very pleasant. The llace was very quiet when we visited, not so many people dining in, but a lot of people came to get take-away. Our waitress was very nice as well. This is the second time I eat here (the 1st time was 5 years ago) and it was even nicer than I remembered.

Authentic and exotic food from Africa. The food itself is rather simple with several selections of vegetable and meat stews, but the eating experience is very fun and memorable. They do not sugar coat African cuisine and seem to try to make it as authentic as possible, and I appreciate it a lot. The injera served here is adjusted to local pallet with a slight reduction in sourness. The real injera will be much more sour. If you hesitate to eat with hands at the restaurant, try it at home with the take away first. Eating by hand is really fun and you get to "feel" different textures, extending your relationship with food and develop cultural understanding.

Messob is perfect for both long-time Ethiopian food lovers and those new to African cuisine! My partner and I each ordered injera with 4 vegetarian dishes: mixed allitcha, shiro, hamli/gomen and ground soya stew. The food was delicious and not too spicy. For drinks, we had Ethiopian chai tea and an Asmara lager beer. Messob also has a very cosy atmosphere and friendly staff. We'll absolutely visit again when we're back in Uppsala!

My partner and I spent a few days in Uppsala at a friend’s. One night we tried to stop by but unfortunately they had closed their kitchen at 9 pm (June). We came back the next night earlier and we were not disappointed with the wait. We tried several menu items: house red wine, the lion stout (I would best describe this as a lighter Guinness with more coffee infusion), also the Ethiopian chai. And for food, the multi veggie dish selection, vegan sambosas, the single chicken dish. For dessert the chocolate truffle (this is one item) and tartufu chocolate. All portions were sufficient and reasonably priced given the quality — we were mostly disappointed with the singular chocolate truffle and the chicken dish. We strongly preferred the vegetarian dishes which had so much flavor. Even if you’re not vegetarian, we highly recommended skipping the meat and giving the multi veg selection a try. The male owner and two young female servers were warm and accommodating. It was a great place for a...

You are blown with a home atmosphere of this place once you come in! The place is run by family and you can feel that in small details - tidy clean design, cosy lighting and accurate menu.

In contrast to other fancy restaurants in the area, this place has its own unique face - it starts from welcoming staff who really knows about their food and provide an AMAZING service!

Food is really warming and delicious. The fact that you eat it with hands makes the whole meal as an experience (of course they are providing normal cutlery, but we would really recommend to eat it as it is supposed to - with hands).

There is no loud music, so you can really talk with each other and connect to the person while sharing food. This place is MUST visit while in Uppsala! We will...

A little slice of Eritrea right here in Uppsala! Different from most of what you'll find here, it's an experience that is well worth it to try. Cozy and welcoming atmosphere with space for bigger groups as well as for more intimate dinners in smalle4 constellations. They have this dinner plate that is four different dishes, with a herby yoghurt as well, that is a great way to get to taste a bit of everything and also eat in a whole new way! Go for the spicy meat dishes if you opt for meat - they're amazing! Maybe the best part - they import beer from all over Africa! The first time I got to try Coconut beer from Ghana, and my favorite the Nigerian Durra beer.

Looking forward to a return trip and a chance to try their dessert coffee beer (yes, a real thing,...
