Upplands Museum is a museum located on the bank of Fyrisån, the river which runs through Uppsala. It is situated in a beautiful building and focuses on the history of the local area, but touches upon Swedish history as a whole within a global setting. Although a small museum, admissions are free and there are various exhibitions throughout the year. At the time I visited, there was an exhibition about the King reigning for 50 years. Most of the information is in Swedish, so a basic understanding of the language would be useful to get the most out of the experience.

Delightful museum with a lot of interactive facilities. Learn about the live of people in Upplands throughout time, the things they left behind...and more practical things like how to read runes! It is free to enter and has quite a lot interactive features, as well as plenty of kid-friendly activities (tickets booked separately). There is a little cafe and cute museum shop inside on the first floor. For non-Swedish speakers: English translations of the exhibits are provided in form of laminated books that you can carry around.

What a fabulous free museum ! Brilliant for families and visitors. I learned so much from the interactive and exciting displays. The people who work at the front desk are just amazing and so so friendly - one was extremely helpful regarding Nordic mitten designs ! Although a lot of the displays were closed the ones that where open where brilliant. They also have a lot of coat racks and lockers in you need them. This is a must visit for upsalla.

This free museum was a great introduction to the region. All signage is in Swedish, but they have booklets in English at the start of each area, so look for those while exploring the exhibits. The section on the local runestones was very informative, and does a great job discussing the region through the ages with great exhibits (I really liked the plates of what people were eating through the ages).

Cool exhibit about the Uppland's tradition and kind staff BUT there's NO English description next to the displays. You can instead get an English booklet instead on one of the Entrance. They have a sheet of runic letters though that you can take home with you if you're interested on that. The gift shop offers a selection of locally made items and sweets. It also has a cafe inside.

It's a place where you can learn a lot about the local area, about history and nature. The building is also interesting, it was a miil, surrounded on 3 sides by water. Also the river is so beautiful. 2nd floor was under repairment work, but 1st and 3rd floor were excellent. You could find also English explanations. Also free entrance. Don't miss.
