Do you ever just dream of this perfect cup of hot chocolate? Well, if you’re like me and share a healthy obsession for chocolate and bread, please read on because boy, have I got a tip for you. Vurma has three coffee shops around Stockholm; in Vasastan, Östermalm and in Hornstull. This is good news for you, since no matter where in the centre of Stockholm you’re strolling, you’ll most likely be close to a Vurma for breakfast, lunch or even dinner. At Vurma they serve grilled sandwiches, salads, sweets and a wide array of hot and cold beverages. If you head on over to the Östermalm Vurma (Birger Jarlsgatan 36), they also offer a tasty dinner menu. I’m a big fan of Vurma’s sandwiches, which are served both grilled and cold. My favorite is “Främlingen” (The Stranger) a grilled hunk of bread with chicken, avocado, dijon mustard, oregano and tomato. It will most definitely satisfy your bread cravings. Top that off with a hearty cup of Vurma’s homemade hot chocolate and you’re most definitely good to go. When you step into Vurma, it’s best described as a room filled with flea market mish-mash, with a touch of old library. The ambiance is welcoming and the odd tables are coupled with colorful window-sofas and cushioned chairs. So, if you find yourself with the same urge of a good cup-a-choco and a snack, I suggest you direct your feet towards the closest Vurma café.

I expected more from this place as it is usually full every time I pass it by. The sandwiches we got were wrapped in paper, a suggestion anyone would take to eat them by hand, which was a big mistake. The bread had a gummy shoe-like texture and ridiculously hard to take a bite out of, chunks of vegetables were as big as you'd put in a salad - clearly not made for sandwich bite. If I ordered salad with bread I would be happy.

The place is not baby friendly. No changing stations in the bathroom and no baby high chairs anywhere.

Just as we started our brunch a lady sitting across us started filing her nails... Regrettably not the best...

One of my favourite places in Stockholm!

I loved the vegan blueberry pie and chai latte!

Friendly staff, vegan options, cool people, lovely setting by the river and quirky, fun decor.

Only negatives:

My food wasn’t great and a little overpriced. I had the falafel sandwich one day and an Açai breakfast bowl the other. The sandwich was very generous but a bit tasteless with hardly any falafel and the açai bowl was small and not great especially for the price.

But I loved the blueberry pie and my friend loved the carrot cake and shrimp salad.

Food is fresh and there are vegan options and lots of...

I ordered Grillad Macka - Stolpskott. I didn't like it. Too much bread. The bread is tasty but there is too much of it. The filling had no taste at all, only the bread. I also ordered the berry pie. It was delicious. And I tried the beetroot latte. It's an interesting experience for expanding taste boundaries but I'm not sure I would repeat it :)
