Tonka Bistro Café — Restaurant in Umeå kommun

A bit hard to find inside the shopping centre, this cafe has a nice and relaxing atmosphere with some of the better interior design in town.

Unfortunately the food isn't on par with the furnishings as is readily apparent from the photos taken during my visit. The Ceasar salad was fine but had some questionable sandwich meat instead of bacon and quite dry and tasteless croutons. For the price it was one of the more disappointing Ceasar salads I've had. The house white wine was very good though and the service was fine.

I visited during lunch hour on a Saturday, so the cafe was quite empty. From reading other reviews this might vary quite a lot.

This place has a great vibe and is what I sould call "casual upscale". As a vegan it's risky going somewhere where you don't know the menu, but the staff was super helpful and I got a yummy paprika soup with nuts, and my partner had the vegan avocado ginger salad (YUM!). Fair prices for quality and location, alright cocktails too. Only problem was that new staff seemed to need more training, but they were still very nice....
