Helvetia auf der Reise Seit 1980 sitzt Helvetia nachdenklich und selbstvergessen am Brückenkopf über dem Rhein. Bein, Arm und Kopf aufgestützt, blickt die imposante Bronzefigur flussabwärts. Zu ihr gehören die bekannten Attribute Speer und Schild mit Schweizer Kreuz, aber auch ein abgelegter Umhang, ein Reisekoffer und eine Texttafel. Die sechs Werkbestandteile sind in unterschiedlichen Verfahren des Bronzegusses entstanden; die aufwändige Fertigung der überlebensgrossen Frauenfigur erfolgte in fünf Teilstücken: Dazu wurden Gussmodelle aus Styropor und Gips gefertigt und mit Bahnen aus Walzblei ummantelt.
