Restaurant Boo Klybeck — Restaurant in Basel

I have just came back from Boo having the worst dining experience. We liked coming here before and have been several times. This time my mom came and we took here out for dinner. First few bites, I found a piece of hair in my dish on which I haven 't complained ( i was thinking, ah it s just a piece of hair, i am not going to make a big deal out of it). 2 bites more and i taste something in my mouth, I struggled to get it out, only to find a piece of iron hair from the cleaning brush. Luckily I haven't swallowed it. I told them about it, and they brought me a new dish, but at this point our dinner was ruined. We only ate a small portion of our meals and decided to leave as I couldn't t eat anymore. The most disappointing thing is that they just got me my meal and a drink for free, the rest I had to pay even though we basically didn't touch our food. Well, we must have caught them on their worst day, considering that this restaurant is adored by the people (4.6 rating). We inquired before being seated and were assured by our waitress that our order would be free of MSG (=monosodium glutamate, a neurotransmitter). However, just before our food arrived, the same waitress confessed that all but one dish has MSG, and yet this was in any case beyond their control since their sauces are made 'elsewhere'. That's low quality food plus deceitful business practice. Customers should be seriously wondering what else they may be doing, unseen! Indeed, the food we were served had no semblance of flavor, beyond the sparklyness provided by the culinary crack. I would recommend that patrons save some money on carbonated tap water and fast food by just going to one of the many cafeteria style Thai restaurants in the area. At the same time however, the raving reviews on this place must mean we completely missed the experience others...

The seating was interesting and a nice view over central Basel. The service was okay, but the waiter seemed to only speak Schweitzer German. The food was awesome, and I am surprised by how well it was done. Just look at the carrot flower they made. Drinks were good, they had soda, beer etc. You can get ice and lemon in your drinks. Not available everywhere. Really good food, lots...
